Abstract: An apparatus for filtering contaminants from marking particles within a conduit is provided. The apparatus includes a mover for moving the marking particles in the conduit and a screen positioned adjacent the conduit so that the marking particles pass through the screen. The apparatus also includes an applicator for applying an electrical bias between the mover and the screen to facilitate the passage of marking particles through the screen.

The developer unit also includes a member for moving the toner in the chamber of the housing and a support structure, projecting from the housing, for supporting the member. The developer unit further includes a bearing located in the support structure. The bearing is spaced from the housing and rotatably supports the member.

Abstract: An apparatus for positional tracking a moving photoconductive belt and adjusting an imager in an electrophotographic printing machine to correct for alignment errors when forming a composite image. Registration errors are sensed by developing an appropriate set of target marks, detecting the target marks, and controlling the position of the imager.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for detecting the seam in a photoreceptor belt is provided. A sensor is positioned on one side of the belt in opposed relationship to a light source which can be a lamp dedicated solely to that purpose or light from an imager such as an LED array or a Raster Output Scanner. Illumination from the light source of the end of the array is detected by a sensor when the seam passes therebetween creating a characteristic output signal which is recognized by system software and used to control imager operation to ensure that latent images are not formed across the seam.

Abstract: An apparatus which develops an electrostatic latent image recorded on a photoconductive member employed in an electrophotographic printing machine having a finite, usable life. The apparatus employs a developer material which ages during the life of the electrophotographic printing machine. A continuous supply of carrier granules is furnished to the developer material. The addition of these carrier granules extends the useful life of the developer material so as to correspond to at least the useful life of the electrophotographic printing machine.
