  • Patent number: 8769659
Abstract: A high-bandwidth direct communication path between two clients is used for voice or video calls over the Internet. An opening or a window in a firewall is made for the direct path by sending a null packet out from inside the firewall. The null packet can be a UDP packet directed to a UDP port of the other client. Initially, each client makes a TCP connection to port 80 of an external manager. Each client registers its UDP port number with the external manager. A call request from one client to the external manager results in a message from the external manager to the other client. The other client then creates the window in its firewall by transmitting the null UDP packet. Then the external manager is notified and tells the calling client to begin sending UDP packets directly to the other client through the firewall window.

  • Publication number: 20140174818
Abstract: A connector member includes a coupler portion having a wall including a first end that extends to a second end that defines a connection zone. The wall includes an outer surface. A mounting portion is provided at the first end. The mounting portion includes one or more cantilevered beam elements that extend along the wall spaced from the outer surface. A locking member extends about the coupler portion between the one or more cantilevered beam elements and the outer surface of the wall. The locking member is configured and disposed to limit deflection of the one or more cantilevered beam elements to prevent removal of the connector member from a substrate.

  • Publication number: 20140181562
Abstract: A method for providing over-heating protection of a target device within an information processing system is disclosed. A determination is made whether or not a power status of the information processing system is set to turn on a main power of a power supply device. If the power status of the information processing system is set to turn on a main power of a power supply device, a power switch of the target device is turned on; otherwise, another determining is made whether or not the target device is set to operate based on a user's setting. If the target device is set to operate based on the user's setting, the power switch of the target device is turned on; otherwise, the power switch of the target device is turned off.

  • Patent number: 8758083
Abstract: A method and system for providing transducer(s) including a disk structure and having an air-bearing surface (ABS) are described. The disk structure resides a distance from the ABS and has a disk dimension substantially perpendicular to the ABS. Lapping control and disk windage ELGs are provided. The lapping control ELG has first and second edges first and second distances from the ABS. The disk windage ELG has edges different distances from the ABS. A difference between these edges corresponds to the disk dimension. A windage resistance of the disk windage ELG is measured and a disk windage determined. The disk windage corresponds to a difference between designed and actual disk dimensions perpendicular to the ABS. A lapping ELG target resistance is determined based on the disk windage. The transducer is lapped. Lapping is terminated based on a resistance of the lapping control ELG and the lapping ELG target resistance.

  • Patent number: 8762345
Abstract: A sampling based technique for eliminating duplicate data (de-duplication) stored on storage resources, is provided. According to the invention, when a new data set, e.g., a backup data stream, is received by a server, e.g., a storage system or virtual tape library (VTL) system implementing the invention, one or more anchors are identified within the new data set. The anchors are identified using a novel anchor detection circuitry in accordance with an illustrative embodiment of the present invention. Upon receipt of the new data set by, for example, a network adapter of a VTL system, the data set is transferred using direct memory access (DMA) operations to a memory associated with an anchor detection hardware card that is operatively interconnected with the storage system. The anchor detection hardware card may be implemented as, for example, a FPGA is to quickly identify anchors within the data set.

  • Patent number: 8752536
Abstract: Fall away arrow rests for archery bows. The rests have an arm with an arrow-supporting feature and an arm-associated axle which pivots the arm to displace the arrow-supporting feature between a first, arrow-loading position and a second, more elevated, arrow-launching position. The arrow support arm can be adjusted vertically, laterally, and in fore-and-aft directions relative to a riser or other rigid bow component on which the rest is mounted. One or more dampers can be advantageously attached to arrow rest structural members to reduce shock and vibrations, including noise, as the arrow support arm displaces the arrow-supporting feature between its first and second positions, especially as an arrow is launched from the bow.

  • Publication number: 20140157625
Abstract: An article of footwear for snowboarding includes a tongue with adjustable stiffness. The tongue includes a flexible intermediate portion and the flexibility of the intermediate portion can be controlled by a tension control system.
