    Abstract: A dry bath with a heat conductive block having a plurality of bores adapted to receive tubes containing samples of material. The dry bath includes a heater and a temperature sensor mounted to the block. A heat controller executes a control cycle of initially operating the heater to heat the block in the absence of the tubes to a desired temperature. Next, the heat controller automatically detects a change in temperature of the block in response to tubes being placed in the bores, wherein the samples in the tubes have a temperature different, for example, less, than the desired temperature. In that case, the heat controller operates the heater to first automatically heat the block to a temperature greater than the desired temperature. Thereafter, the heat controller automatically reduces the heat being applied to the block while heat continues to transfer to the samples such that the block and samples simultaneously reach, and are maintained at, the desired temperature.

    Abstract: A method of identifying and transmitting predetermined calling party information as part of a messaging signal is provided for use in a communications network having a messaging processor serving at least one messaging device. At least one database is provided in communication with the messaging processor. The database includes a list of calling party telephone numbers and corresponding calling party names. A message request signal is received at the messaging processor and includes a data field including a message generated by a calling party. The message is parsed to extract possible calling party telephone numbers which are thereafter compared to a stored list of calling party telephone numbers to identify the name of the calling party. A messaging signal is then generated for receipt by the messaging device. The messaging signal includes a data field for identifying the calling party name.

The kit includes a container containing a mixed solution a unit dose of a pharmacologically effective amount of an antimicrobial agent and a second agent. The mixed solution has been mixed in a carrier solution and lyophilized. The second agent is an anticoagulant, an antithrombotic agent or a chelating agent. The kit and method are useful for maintaining the patency of indwelling medical devices such as catheters and for preventing infections caused by bacterial growth in catheters.

BU101 is defined by a set of contiguous and partially overlapping RNA sequences transcribed from breast tissue, and polypeptides encoded thereby. A fully sequenced clone representing the longest continuous sequence of BU101 is also disclosed. These sequences are useful for the detecting, diagnosing, staging, monitoring, prognosticating, preventing or treating, or determining the predisposition of an individual to diseases and conditions of the breast such as breast cancer. Also provided are antibodies which specifically bind to BU101-encoded polypeptide or protein, and agonists or inhibitors which prevent action of the tissue-specific BU101 polypeptide, which molecules are useful for the therapeutic treatment of breast diseases, tumors or metastases.

    Abstract: The microwave properties of numerous perovskite antimonates like A2MeSbO6 where A=Ba or Sr, Me=a rare earth, Y, Sc, Ga, or In and A4MeSb3O12 where A=Ba or Sr and M=Li, Na or K were measured at 10 Ghz and 300 K. Using the microwave properties and lattice parameters of these materials, the Clausius-Mossotti relationship and a nonlinear regression fitting program, the polarizability of Sb5+ was investigated and determined to be 1.18±0.49 A3. This low polarizability and the low loss of antimonates in general indicate that Sb5+ is an excellent candidate for use as a constituent in the fabrication of low dielectric constant, low loss, lattice matching perovskite oxide microwave substrates.

    Abstract: A method of planarizing a copper containing conductive layer of a semiconductor wafer forms a blanketing copper containing layer within and upon a patterned substrate layer. Chemical mechanical polish (CMP) planarizing is performed on the copper containing layer at a relatively fast rate of removal until most of the layer is removed. The remaining portion of the layer is then CMP planarized at a second rate of removal, which is slower than the first rate of removal, until the copper containing layer is substantially completely removed and a barrier layer underlying the copper containing layer is reached. The multiple phase planarization of the copper containing layer avoids excessive dishing and pattern erosion while maintaining high throughput and uniform removal.

    Abstract: A seating structure including a series of seat assemblies each consisting of a pair of spaced side supports, a seat pivotably mounted between the side supports, a back fixed to the side supports, an electrical outlet positioned on one of the side supports, and at least one data outlet positioned on one of the side supports. Each of the side supports includes an outlet housing affixed to the lower surface of an arm rest contained on the side support. The outlet housing extends inwardly toward the seat surface and provides the seat occupant with an electrical outlet and at least one data outlet. The electrical wiring and data line for each seat assembly pass through a wireway contained in the seat back. A branch electrical power conduit passes through the side support and into the seat back where is it connected to the supply of electrical power. Likewise, a data line extends from the wireway contained in the seat back into the side support where it is connected to the data outlet.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for in vivo electroporation therapy. Using electroporation therapy (EPT) as described in the invention, tumors treated by a combination of electroporation using the apparatus of the invention and a chemotherapeutic agent caused regression of tumors in vivo. In one embodiment, the invention provides a method of EPT utilizing low voltage and long pulse length for inducing cell death. One embodiment of the invention includes a system for clinical electroporation that includes a needle array electrode having a “keying” element that determines the set point of the therapy voltage pulse and/or selectable array switching patterns. A number of electrode applicator designs permit access to and treatment of a variety of tissue sites. Another embodiment provides a laparoscopic needle applicator that is preferably combined with an endoscope for minimally invasive EPT.

    Abstract: The present invention provides, in one embodiment, a system for providing fuel to a backup electrical fuel cell. In this particular embodiment, the system includes a sealed fuel container having a pierceable membrane with a container seal associated therewith, an acerate tube proximate the pierceable membrane, and an actuator. The actuator is coupled to the acerate tube and automatically drives the acerate tube through the pierceable membrane to provide fluid communication from the fuel container to the fuel cell in response to a failure of a primary electrical power system. The container seal is configured to form a seal about the acerate tube when the acerate tube pierces the pierceable membrane to prevent unnecessary loss of fuel, such as methanol, from the container. In alternative embodiments, the system may also include the primary power system and a backup electrical fuel cell that is electrically coupled to the primary power system.

A noble inert gas such as helium is used as dilutant in forming the first sub-layer adjacent the source and drain electrodes to avoid reduction problems while hydrogen is used as the dilutant in forming the second sub-layer to achieve high stability and mobility characteristics in the completed transistor.

A C-shaped structured channel is attached to the horizontal frame member outboard of the [covered] face. Apertures are formed in the top and bottom flanges for routing utilities into the wireway from above or below. Wiring routed through the apertures can be protected by sleeves. A shelf or worksurface is supported in cantilevers on the channel. A flexible is attached over the channel. Vertical blade supports for shelves can also be supported on the partition with vertically spaced rear brackets attached to the partition.

    Abstract: An amplifier having an adjustable current source which can be controlled to provide the requisite level of performance at reduced current consumption. The amplifier is first designed using one of many designs available and known in the art. A current source is then designed to provide adjustable bias current for the amplifier. The current source can be designed with MOSFETs which require no additional bias current and can accept a standard digital control signal. The current source can also be designed with active devices which are selected based on the logic of the control signals for ease of interface. The bias current determines the linearity and noise performance of the amplifier. The bias current is adjusted to provide the requisite level of performance while reducing power consumption. The current source can be designed to operate in discrete steps or to have substantially continuous current steps.
