  • Patent number: 10266180
Abstract: Methods and systems for monitoring use, determining risk, and pricing insurance policies for a vehicle having one or more autonomous or semi-autonomous operation features are provided. According to certain aspects, a computer-implemented method for operating an autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle may be provided. With a vehicle owner's permission, a vehicle operator identity may be determined; and operating data regarding the autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle may be received from one or more vehicle-mounted sensors. Based upon the received operating data, (i) autonomous operation risk levels associated with autonomous vehicle operation; and (ii) operator risk levels associated with autonomous vehicle operation by the vehicle operator may be determined. Based upon a comparison of the autonomous operation versus vehicle operator risk levels, the autonomous features may be engaged if it is safer for the vehicle to travel autonomously.

  • Patent number: 10266520
Abstract: The invention provides compounds, compositions and therapeutic methods. The compounds and compositions can be used for the treatment of myotonic dystrophy. The compounds can selectively bind to CUG repeats in RNA, or to CTG repeats in DNA, and inhibit replication of the nucleic acids. RNA-targeted therapeutic agents for the treatment of myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1) are described. In one embodiment, two bisamidinium ligands are linked using “click” chemistry to form a heterodimer that is a potent inhibitor of the MBNL1-rCUGexp complex (KI=25±8 nM), is relatively non-toxic to HeLa cells, dissolves nuclear foci, corrects >80% of the IR misregulated alternative splicing in DM1 model cells (1 ?M), and shows improvement of disease phenotypes in a DM1 Drosophila model.

  • Publication number: 20190114114
Abstract: Techniques enable offloading operations to be performed closer to where the data is stored in systems with sharded and erasure-coded data, such as in data centers. In one example, a system includes a compute sled or compute node, which includes one or more processors. The system also includes a storage sled or storage node. The storage node includes one or more storage devices. The storage node stores at least one portion of data that is sharded and erasure-coded. Other portions of the data are stored on other storage nodes. The compute node sends a request to offload an operation to the storage node to access the sharded and erasure-coded data. The storage node then sends a request to offload the operation to one or more other storage nodes determined to store one or more codes of the data. The storage nodes perform the operation on the portions of locally stored data and provide the results to the next-level up node.

  • Publication number: 20190105057
Abstract: Disclosed are systems and method for effecting the total and partial occlusion of a blood vessel, e.g., the aorta. The systems include a balloon catheter, a reservoir for an inflation fluid, a switch, and a pressure regulator/accumulator. The systems are configured to operate in a first mode and a second mode as established by the switch. During the first mode the balloon is fully inflated by the inflation fluid to completely occlude the blood vessel. During the second mode the balloon is partially inflated so that blood can flow past the balloon in the blood vessel. The pressure regulator/accumulator includes a chamber for receipt of the inflation fluid during the second mode to automatically regulate the pressure within the balloon to a desired operating pressure. The system is configured to operate in a third mode to prime the pressure regulator/accumulator to establish a desired operating pressure in the second mode.

  • Publication number: 20190106728
Abstract: A biosensor system determines an analyte concentration of a biological sample using an electrochemical process without Cottrell decay. The biosensor system generates an output signal having a transient decay, where the output signal is not inversely proportional to the square root of the time. The transient decay is greater or less than the ?0.5 decay constant of a Cottrell decay. The transient decay may result from a relatively short incubation period, relatively small sample reservoir volumes, relatively small distances between electrode surfaces and the lid of the sensor strip, and/or relatively short excitations in relation to the average initial thickness of the reagent layer. The biosensor system determines the analyte concentration from the output signal having a transient decay.
