  • Publication number: 20180306982
Abstract: A fiber optic ferrule includes a body extending from a first end to a second opposite end, with the body including an axial passage extending between the first and the second ends. The axial passage includes a first diameter portion having a diameter of at least 125 microns, a second diameter portion having a diameter of at least 250 microns and less than a diameter of a buffer, and a smooth and continuous transition between the first and the second diameter portions. The second diameter portion is positioned between the first diameter portion and the second end. The axial passage further defines a tapered shape at the second end extending inward from the second end toward the second diameter portion. In certain embodiments, another smooth and continuous transition can be provided between the taper shape and the second diameter portion. In certain embodiments, the axial passage is smooth and continuous between the first and the second ends of the body. A hub holds the ferrule.

  • Patent number: 10106083
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for providing alerts. In various aspects, sensor data is received at one or more sensors associated with a vehicle, where the sensor data defines an electronic vehicle environment that indicates an electronic location of the vehicle. An electronic pedestrian or cyclist location is identified within the electronic vehicle environment, which is determined by a mobile device associated with a pedestrian or cyclist. Where a determination is made that the pedestrian or cyclist meets predetermined alert criteria based upon the electronic vehicle location and the electronic pedestrian or cyclist location, an alert is generated that indicates the presence of the pedestrian or cyclist within the vicinity of the vehicle. The alert is presented on a display screen.

  • Patent number: 10107040
Abstract: An earth-boring tool includes primary and secondary cutting elements mounted to a tool body. The secondary cutting elements define a secondary cutting profile. The secondary cutting profile is recessed relative to the primary cutting profile, which is defined by the primary cutting elements. In an unworn condition, the primary cutting elements engage and cut a formation material while the secondary cutting elements do not. Each secondary cutting element includes a flat surface oriented at an angle relative to a longitudinal axis thereof and extending between a front cutting face and a peripheral side surface thereof. The secondary cutting elements are oriented on the tool body such that a surface area of the flat surface thereof will engage the formation material at least substantially simultaneously when the primary cutting elements reach a worn condition. Methods of forming the earth-boring tool and methods of using the earth-boring tool are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20180302100
Abstract: A time-interleaved digital-to-analog converter (DAC) uses M DAC cores to convert a digital input signal whose digital input words are spread to different DAC cores to produce a final analog outputs. The M DAC cores, operating in a time-interleaved fashion, can increase the sampling rate several times compared to the sampling rate of just one DAC. However, sequential time-interleaving DAC cores often exhibit undesirable spurs at the output. To spread those spurs to the noise floor, the time-interleaving DAC cores can be selected at a pseudo randomized manner or in a specific manner which can break up the sequential or periodic manner of selecting the DAC cores.

  • Publication number: 20180295044
Abstract: A system, apparatus, and methods are provided for automatically managing a collection of service instances. A selected or random instance of the service isredline-tested to determine a maximum level of sustained and stable performance (e.g., a maximum or approximate maximum load or throughput of the service instance). This redline value may represent a highest service request rate (e.g., in queries per second or qps) that should be delivered to some or all instances of the service. An expected range of demand for the service is then estimated for a future time period, possibly from analysis and/or observations of past demand, and a maximum and minimum number of instances for handling that range of demand, at an acceptable level of performance, can be determined. During the time period, additional instances may be created and superfluous instances may be removed automatically, based on actual demand.

  • Patent number: 10089637
Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for presenting event data in a heat-map interface. Event data describing user interactions with a content item can be gathered and used to generate the heat map. The gathered event data can be filtered prior to processing to exclude unnecessary or irrelevant event data. The event data can be filtered based on numerous criteria such as a determined type of user interaction, demographic data, location of the event data, content item, etc. Filtering rules can be based on an analysis of the content item to determine what event data to exclude and current performance of the system. The filtered event data can be presented in a heat-map interface that represents the frequency at which event data occurs on an item of content based on location. The event data is analyzed to determine optimization rules that dictate selection of content items.
