  • Publication number: 20080035289
Abstract: The present invention is a method for maximizing water removal from an absorbent web in a press nip. The present invention uses a pressing unit having a blanket with a void volume and with a pressure profile that maximizes water removal in the press section or on the Yankee dryer of a paper machine. The pressure profile of the pressing unit according to the present invention has a very steep pressure drop at and/or following the exit of a pressure distribution curve in order to maximize water removal by minimizing rewet of the web. The improved pressure profile according to the present invention results in increased water removal and/or improved line speed. The void volume further increases water removal and/or improves line speed.

  • Patent number: 7274545
Abstract: In a method and system for protecting a semiconductor device from an electrostatic discharge (ESD) event, an ESD tester generates an ESD event by providing an ESD test signal having a leading pulse and a trailing pulse. An ESD input of the device under test (DUT) receives the ESD test signal. An ESD protection circuit embedded in the DUT detects the ESD signal and asserts a trigger in response to the detection. The ESD protection circuit provides a leading discharge path to the leading pulse in response to detecting the ESD signal, thereby protecting the DUT during the leading pulse. In addition, the ESD protection circuit also provides a trailing discharge path to the trailing pulse in response to the trigger, thereby protecting the DUT during the trailing pulse.

  • Patent number: 7272228
Abstract: A system and method for securing code segments and ensuring proper execution using state-based encryption is presented. A class loader captures a memory state snapshot and uses the memory state snapshot for generating a key that encrypts a class. The class loader subsequently captures additional memory state snapshots at specific execution cycle times, and uses the memory state snapshots to generate additional keys that encrypt subsequent code segments. The encrypted code segments are stored in a file that is distributed to client computers. The client computer decrypts the individual code segments using keys that are generated from client memory state snapshots. If a particular code segment is not loaded in order or has been altered, the code segment is not decrypted properly and the software program terminates.

  • Patent number: 7254385
Abstract: A system and method for automatic conversions of units of measure in a wireless communication network are provided. With the system and method, when a wireless communication device enters a region of a wireless network, the wireless communication device registers with the wireless network. The registration includes the creation of a database entry at the mobile switching center that includes an indication of the origin, such as the country code, of the wireless communication device. Based on this indication of origin, a conversion function may be identified for converting of units of measure to a format that is most likely to be understood by a user of the wireless communication device. When a text based message is sent to the wireless communication device, the text message is received by the mobile switching center which determines how to route the text message and parses the text message to identify any portions of the text message that include a unit of measure that may need to be converted.

  • Patent number: 7231342
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product within a logically partitioned data processing system that includes multiple partitions and a management console are described for displaying messages in a language specified by the console. A language is specified by the management console. The specification is transmitted to each one of the partitions. A message is generated within one of the partitions. The partition then utilizes the specification to select a translation of the message into the language specified by the management console. The translation is then transmitted from the partition to the management console for display by the management console.

  • Publication number: 20070062656
Abstract: A method of making linerboard with elevated CD strength includes: a) compactively dewatering a papermaking furnish to form a nascent web having an apparently random distribution of papermaking fibers; b) applying the dewatered web having apparently random fiber distribution to a translating transfer surface moving at a first speed; c) fabric-creping the web from the transfer surface at a consistency of from about 15 to about 75 percent utilizing a patterned creping fabric. The creping step occurs under pressure in a fabric-creping nip defined between the transfer surface and the creping fabric, wherein the fabric is traveling at second speed slower than the speed of the transfer surface and the fabric pattern, nip parameters, velocity, delta and web consistency are selected such that the web is creped from the transfer surface and distributed on the creping fabric. The fabric-creped web has an elevated CD strength as compared with the web prior to fabric-creping.
