  • Patent number: 9968125
Abstract: This invention relates to nicotine microparticles formulations made with the help of a diketopiperazine compound, in particular fumaryl diketopiperazine (FDKP). The invention relates to the various types of microparticles that can be made, in particular nicotine-coated and nicotine-loaded microparticles. The invention further relates to the various methods that can be used in making the microparticles. One particular method involves making FDKP microparticles which are further surface-coated with nicotine. Another particular method involves mixing nicotine with FDKP2? and/or FDKP and then forming microparticles which contain nicotine throughout their volume. The invention also relates to the use of this microparticles in tobacco related therapies, such as tobacco replacement or tobacco withdrawal.

  • Publication number: 20180093051
Abstract: Described is a dry powder inhaler for inhalation of a dry powder composition. The inhaler includes an external housing that defines an internal passage. The inhaler also includes a mouthpiece, a compartment for holding a dry powder capsule or powder reservoir, and a powder fluidization and deagglomeration apparatus for directing airflow to the dry powder to generate airborne powder particles within the internal passage. When a user inhales through the mouthpiece, a first airflow pattern is generated that has a first airflow resistance, during which the fluidization and deagglomeration apparatus generates airborne dry powder particles within the internal passage. Upon reaching a threshold negative pressure value within the internal passage of the inhaler, a second airflow pattern is generated having a second airflow resistance that is lower than the first airflow resistance, which pulls the airborne dry powder into the user's lungs during the inhalation. Embodiments of elastomeric valves are also described.

  • Publication number: 20180093050
Abstract: A dry powder inhaler dispenses a partial dosage of a powder from a dry powder chamber during a single user inhalation. In certain embodiments, the dry powder chamber is a dry powder capsule that spins in a chamber with a protrusion for limiting the spin of the capsule. In certain embodiments, a capsule slides in a proximal and distal direction for dispensing partial dosages of powder medicament. Air inlets in communication whit the external environment can be included in the inhaler housing for generating a smooth inhalation experience for the user and facilitating operation of partial dosage mechanisms. In other embodiments, a hinged member, sliding member, rotating member, spring tensioned member, pressure actuated valve, dry powder chamber with patterned holes or combinations of these are used as a mechanism for dispensing a partial dosage of powder medicament during a single inhalation.

  • Publication number: 20170071248
Abstract: A method of controlling or electing the harshness of inhaled nicotine powder formulations is described. The method includes the steps of identifying a concentration of nicotine for a subject to inhale to achieve a desired level of harshness per inhalation, identifying the total dose of nicotine to be inhaled by the subject, and providing the subject with an amount of a formulation comprising nicotine particles having the identified concentration of nicotine, such that the total amount of nicotine particles in the formulation equals the total dose of nicotine.

  • Patent number: 9009313
Abstract: A method, system, computer program product, and related business methods for phased rollout of an upgraded version of a web-based business information system are described. URLs associated with client requests remain the same even where the target subscriber accounts have been upgraded. Client requests for both upgraded and non-upgraded accounts are received by a common set of web servers. Client requests representing external entry points are trapped, and the receiving web server accesses a login router database to determine whether the target subscriber account is upgraded or non-upgraded, and then transfers the request to an appropriately-versioned application server. Application server sets are mapped to database sets according to system version, allowing the upgraded system database schema to be substantially different than the non-upgraded database schema. An early adopter program business method leveraging the abilities of such web-based business information system is also described.

  • Patent number: 8268167
Abstract: Separating apparatus, for separating a substance from a liquid on which the substance can float, comprises: a separation chamber; an inlet adapted to convey a supply comprising the substance and the liquid into the separation chamber; and an outlet adapted to convey liquid collected in the separation chamber out of the separation chamber. The inlet is arranged such that, in use, the supply emerging from the inlet into the chamber is directed upwardly into the chamber, and the apparatus further comprises venting means arranged to convey gas out of the chamber. The apparatus may further comprise a floating pick up connected to a pump for pumping the supply to the separation chamber. In certain examples a non-floating pick up is used, comprising an elongate hollow body with a pick up inlet mouth in the form of a vertical slot extending along a length of the body.

  • Patent number: 7925671
Abstract: A cue sheet generation system is used to compose a cue sheet for submission to PRS from an input EDL. The system parses the EDL to extract data relating to use of musical works associated with a PRS. The system employs both local and remote databases to retrieve information relating to the extracted musical work data. The information is then used to construct a cue sheet in a form appropriate for submission to a PRS.

  • Publication number: 20070022479
Abstract: A network processing device provides a novel architecture for conducting firewall and other network interface management operations. In another aspect of the invention, a Unified Policy Management (UPM) architecture uses a same memory and processing structure to integrate firewall policy management with routing and switching decisions. In another embodiment, a Reconfigurable Semantic Processor (RSP) uses a parser to identify different syntactic elements that are then used by one or more Semantic Processing Units (SPUs) to carry out different firewall, network interface, routing, switching, and other packet processing operations.
