  • Patent number: 7146445
Abstract: A test apparatus for telecommunication equipment includes motherboard that executes a resident operation control mechanism, so that the test apparatus exhibits default hardware functionality. However, if a daughtercard has been plugged into the motherboard, the motherboard ignores the default firmware and executes whatever replacement operation control software is provided on the daughtercard—causing the test apparatus to acquire a hardware functionality exclusive of the motherboard default.

  • Patent number: 7080023
Abstract: A system and method of craftsmanship rating of vehicles includes the steps of receiving customer data relating to craftsmanship for a vehicle and building a component/system database from the collected customer data. The method also includes the steps of rating the vehicle for craftsmanship based on component/system database to obtain an actual rating and setting a target rating for the vehicle based on the actual rating. The method includes the steps of identifying craftsmanship issues that resolve a gap from the actual rating to the target rating. The method further includes the steps of determining whether the identified craftsmanship issues will resolve the gap from the actual rating to the target rating.

  • Publication number: 20060110376
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods of treating a cancer in a subject comprising generating within one or more cancer cells of a subject an effective amount of MDA-7 and an effective amount of one or more free radicals. The present invention further relates to methods of inhibiting proliferation or promoting death in a cancer cell of a subject comprising generating within one or more cancer cells of a subject an effective amount of MDA-7 and an effective amount of one or more free radicals. Generation of an effective amount of MDA-7 can occur by administering to the cancer cell an effective amount of an mda-7 nucleic acid, MDA-7 protein, functional equivalents of either of these molecules, by upregulation of the endogenous mda-7 gene, or by stabilization of the mda-7 mRNA.

  • Publication number: 20060081671
Abstract: A hip support for a shoulder-carried golf bag. A “U-shaped” member is affixed to a golf bag to contact the golfer's body adjacent the lumber and pelvic area of the golfer's back and hip. When the strap(s) of a golf bag are placed over the shoulder, the hip support member engages and is partially supported by the hip and transfers at least a portion of the weight of the golf bag from the shoulders to the wearer's pelvic area.

  • Publication number: 20060062784
Abstract: The invention relates to antibody polypeptides that monovalently bind CD40L. Antibody polypeptides that are monovalent for binding of CD40L can inhibit CD40L activity while avoiding potential undesirable effects that can occur with antibodies capable of divalent or multivalent binding of CD40L. In one aspect, a monovalent anti-CD40L antibody polypeptide consists of or comprises a single immunoglobulin variable domain that specifically binds and antagonizes the activity of CD40L, preferably without substantially agonizing CD40 activity. In another aspect, the monovalent anti-CD40L antibody polypeptide is a human antibody polypeptide. The invention further encompasses methods of antagonizing CD40/CD40L interactions in an individual and methods of treating diseases or disorders involving CD40/CD40L interactions, the methods involving administering a monovalent anti-CD40L antibody polypeptide to the individual.

  • Publication number: 20050211180
Abstract: This invention relates to a unique ornamental aquarium design that incorporates a cylinder shaped unit, a base, and a top section. The base's lighting unit will project upward a wide variety of colored lights, including white light, into the tank. The unit will plug into a standard outlet. A mechanism is included on the base to allow for the lights to be rotated either automatically or one color at a time. The housing unit or tank has a broad opening for inserting fish, decorative objects or an air filtration device. The top is designed to allow for an air filtration device to be inserted through the top and into the tank.

  • Publication number: 20050004007
Abstract: The invention provides compositions and methods for promoting apoptosis of cancer cells, and methods for treating cancer. The compositions comprise cyclin dependent kinase inhibitor and an agent that induces cellular differentiation. The methods of promoting apoptosis of cancer cells involve the co-administration to the cancer cells of a cyclin dependent kinase inhibitor and an agent that induces cell differentiation. The method for treating cancer involves the co-administration of a cyclin dependent kinase inhibitor and an agent that induces cellular differentiation to a patient. Examples of cyclin dependent kinase inhibitors include histone deacetylase inhibitors, protein kinase C activators, retinoids, and Vitamin D3.

  • Publication number: 20040191168
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for treating cancer by promoting apoptosis and reducing clonogenic survival of cancer cells. The method encompasses co-administering 1) a cell cycle checkpoint abrogation agent (for example, UCN-01 or caffeine) and 2) an inhibitor of a compensatory cytoprotective pathway, such as an agent that inhibits the MEK 1/2 pathway (e.g. PD98059, U0126, or PD184352) or an agent that inhibits the PI 3 pathway (e.g. LIY294002 or wortmanin). In addition, because the co-administration step also radiosensitizes cancer cells, the method additionally encompasses the administration of radiation to further reduce clonogenic survival of cancer cells. The method promotes apoptosis and reduces clonogenic survival in many types of cancer cells, including leukemia cells, prostate cancer cells, breast cancer cells, myeloma cells, and lymphoma cells.

  • Publication number: 20030050901
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an on-line method and system for automating price discovery for cash trade in tangible agricultural commodities with physical delivery requirements, in real-time among a network clients authorized to conduct business with one another, the clients comprising buyers, sellers and resellers. Communications and offers are restricted to client groups with established business relationships to insure confidentiality. Clients input data including basis amounts and live data feed of futures prices is provided, to enable rapid updating of buy price offers down the chain from buyer to reseller to seller. Resellers and sellers respond by selectively placing offers to sell, which when met with acceptance by the other party, are transacted.

  • Patent number: 3972039
Abstract: A three-wire alarm system is disclosed which features a plurality of plug-in strips each carrying a plurality of three-connector receptacles. These strips may be interconnected one to the next and to a battery-powered alarm box by identical jumper cables with three-pinned plugs. Other cables with identical plugs are fastened to valuable items which a merchant desires to display. When these items are placed on display, they are plugged into a nearby plug-in strip. The items may be plugged in without setting off the alarm; but removing any plug or cutting, shorting, or breaking the cables produces an alarm that can be turned off only with a key.The three-contact receptacles of the invention contain a spring that (1) serves to interconnect two of contacts when the receptacle is not in use, (2) contacts the pin mating with the third contact when a plug is inserted, and (3) is dragged by that pin into contact with one of the other contacts when the plug is withdrawn thereby causing an alarm.
