Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and computer readable-media for performing an audible human verification. The method includes determining that a human verification is needed, presenting an audible challenge to a user which exploits a known issue with automatic speech recognition processes, receiving a response to the audible challenge, and verifying that a human provided the response. The known issue with automatic speech recognition processes can be recognition of a non-word, in which case the user can be asked to spell the recognized non-word. The known issue with automatic speech recognition processes can be differentiation of simultaneous input for multiple audio streams. Multiple audio streams contained in the audible challenge can be provided monaurally. Verifying that a human provided the response can include confirming the contents of one of the multiple audio streams. Audible human verification can be performed in combination with visual human verification.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, methods, and computer readable-media for improving name dialer performance. The method includes receiving a speech query for a name in a directory of names, retrieving matches to the query, if the matches are uniquely spelled homophones or near-homophones, identifying information that is unique to all retrieved matches, and presenting a spoken disambiguation statement to a user that incorporates the identified unique information. Identifying information can include multiple pieces of unique information if necessary to completely disambiguate the matches. A hierarchy can establish priority of multiple pieces of unique information for use in the spoken disambiguation statement.

Abstract: A combination and a method are provided. Automatic speech recognition is performed on a received utterance. A meaning of the utterance is determined based, at least in part, on the recognized speech. At least one query is formed based, at least in part, on the determined meaning of the utterance. The at least one query is sent to at least one searching mechanism to search for an address of at least one web page that satisfies the at least one query.

Abstract: A method of surface sealing a porous fibrous substrate is provided. According to the method, a porous fibrous substrate possessing a moisture content and a surface with pores is provided. A sealant composition is applied to a surface of the porous fibrous substrate and permitted to penetrate the surface pores of the porous fibrous substrate and undergo cure while participating in a foaming reaction with the moisture content to establish a water-resistant polymeric foam sealant impregnated into the porous fibrous substrate. The water-resistant polymeric foam sealant contains a polyurethane and/or polyurea.

Abstract: A wipe article is provided for cleansing and providing gentle exfoliation. The article is a water-insoluble substrate laden with a fluid cosmetic composition that includes a skin benefit agent delivered in a carrier. The substrate is a woven or non-woven fibrous web with first and second major surfaces, at least one of the major surfaces having formed thereon an array of projections, the array including from at least 2 to about 20 projections per cm2. Each projection is formed of a material different than that of the substrate and is raised from the substrate at a highest point thereof a distance from 100 to 2,000 micron. The projections are formed of at least 20 microbeads per projection.

Abstract: A system and method is provided for rapidly generating a new spoken dialog application. In one embodiment, a user experience person labels the transcribed data (e.g., 3000 utterances) using a set of interactive tools. The labeled data is then stored in a processed data database. During the labeling process, the user experience person not only groups utterances in various call type categories, but also flags (e.g., 100-200) specific utterances as positive and negative examples for use in an annotation guide. The labeled data in the processed data database can also be used to generate an initial natural language understanding (NLU) model.

Abstract: A wellsite system includes a drill string suspended within a borehole, and a bottom hole assembly with a drill bit at its lower end, where the drill bit is a self stabilized and anti-whirl drill bit. The drill bit includes an interior cavity in fluid communication with the drill string, and a plurality of gauge pads located on the exterior of the drill bit. One or more of the gauge pads include an orifice in communication with the interior cavity, where the orifice is arranged at an angle relative to cutters fixed to the drill bit. The drill bit is configured such that a fluid continuously flows from each of the orifices.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for intelligently routing network data in satellite communication networks based on parametric sensitivities. Some embodiments of the invention provide methods, systems, and devices for routing data based on the latency-sensitivity of the data and multiple networks in a network environment. Some of these embodiments also provide for voice-over-internet-protocol capabilities to provide a network environment which allows for high throughput and low physical latency, without tying up a phone line. Other embodiments of the invention provide methods, systems, and devices for routing data based on the parametric-sensitivity of the data and multiple networks in a network environment.

Abstract: An interface antenna is positioned between a tag antenna associated with a tag and a reader antenna associated with a reader. The interface antenna receives an electromagnetic carrier signal transmitted by the reader antenna and causes an increase in intensity of the electromagnetic carrier signal at the location of the tag antenna, thereby increasing the distance over which the tag can communicate with the reader. Where the tag is attached to a packaged object, the interface antenna may be included in the package to allow wireless data communication between the tag and a reader external to the package. For example, the interface antenna may be attached to a label on the package. At least a portion of the interface antenna may be formed from a conductive ink applied to the label and/or the container. The object may be a module, also known as a customer replaceable unit (CRU), and the tag may be configured as a customer replaceable unit monitor (CRUM).

Abstract: A method for managing data traffic in a multi-user multiple-simultaneous-access (MUMSA) environment, for example in a code reuse multiple access (CRMA) environment or other physical environment having true random access with more than one transmission present at the same time, the method including estimating channel load for multiple users, then using the estimate of channel load to calculate a congestion threshold on an ongoing basis, at each terminal performing an experiment using that congestion threshold value and a random number generator to determine if a packet is eligible to be transmitted, transferring downstream virtual channel traffic and redistributing user terminals to affiliate with the proper downstream virtual channel.
