    Abstract: The invention relates to a touch screen protector for a hand held electronic device having a front face that includes a touch screen portion and a non-functional band. The touch screen protector of the invention comprises a plastic film having front and back sides, an outer perimeter that corresponds to that of the device, and a transparent window; a spacer provided along the outer perimeter of the plastic film surrounding the transparent window, having a thickness sufficient to space the plastic film near but not in contact with the touch screen portion; an exposed adhesive for removably mounting the protector upon the outer perimeter of the front face to form an enclosed air space between the transparent window of the plastic film, the spacer and the touch screen portion of the device; and a joining adhesive for adhering the spacer to the back side of the plastic film.

    Abstract: An image sensor array that has a plurality of image sensing pixels and a plurality of programmable gain amplifiers, each of the programmable gain amplifiers connected to receive and amplify an output of said image sensing pixels. Each of said programmable gain senses when an output of the programmable gain amplifier is in an oversaturated condition. Responsive to sensing that the output of the programmable gain amplifier in the oversaturated condition, the amplifier automatically clamps a bias amount to the programmable gain amplifier, to thereby regulate an amount of current draw of the programmable gain amplifier. In this way, the power supply current to that pixel which is oversaturated is prevented from affecting power supplies to the other pixels, by regulating the power supply to the oversaturated pixel.

    Abstract: An A/D converter system that has a ranging detector that receives and characterizes an input signal. The characterizing sets a coarse range selection based on a level of the input signal. A higher level input signal has a higher level ranging. An A/D converter includes a compression system that compresses based on the ranging output signal by converting different numbers of bits for different level ranging output signal. A higher level input signal is more higher compressed and produces a digital output indicative of the input signal, which is compressed by different amounts based on the ranging output signal. By scaling in this way, the resolution of the A/D converter is scaled on the basis of shot noise level of the image sensor.
