  • Patent number: 10663734
Abstract: A wearable image display system includes a headpiece, a first and a second light engine, and a first and a second optical component. The first and second light engines generate a first and a second set of beams respectively, each beam substantially collimated so that the first and second set form a first and a second virtual image respectively. Each optical component is located to project an image onto a first and a second eye of a wearer respectively. The first and second sets of beams are directed to incoupling structures of the first and second optical components respectively. Exit structures of the first and second optical components guide the first and second sets of beams onto the first and second eyes respectively. The optical components are located between the light engines and the eyes. Both of the light engines are mounted to a central portion of the headpiece.

  • Patent number: 10651894
Abstract: A transceiver capable of common mode operating range and output voltage tolerance set by an isolation boundary and not limited by the device type used in the circuitry. The subject technology is a powered isolated transceiver, where the isolated generated supply and ground nodes are concealed and thus do not participate in tests that stress electrostatic discharge (ESD)/electrical overstress (EOS) or voltage tolerance. The architecture of the subject technology has the advantage of extremely high common mode performance and robust performance using low voltage devices and simplified architecture, which in turn provides less capacitive loading, faster operation, less expensive die development, electromagnetic interference (EMI) advantages, and simple active termination. The subject technology includes an isolation architecture that can be used in environments where isolation is used but is also advantageous in systems without the need for isolation.

  • Patent number: 10630445
Abstract: The present invention provides methods and apparatuses for implementation of cyclic prefix (CP) and demodulation reference signal (DMRS) in 2 sub-carrier pi/2 binary phase shift keying (BPSK) modulation in a communication system. DMRS symbols are interleaved with data-carrying symbols and configured such that they are alternatingly transmitted on different ones of the two sub-carriers. When a DMRS symbol is transmitted on one sub-carrier, the other sub-carrier may be unused. In implementing CP, phase rotations may be applied to modulation symbols, such that each concurrently transmitted pair of symbols is subjected to a same phase rotation. The phase rotation can be derived based on an average frequency of the two (e.g. adjacent) sub-carriers in use. The phase rotations can be updated recursively, and the update multiplied by a scaling factor.

  • Publication number: 20200110268
Abstract: An optical system that deploys micro electro mechanical system (MEMS) scanners to contemporaneously generate CG images and to scan a terrain of a real-world environment. An illumination engine emits a first spectral bandwidth and a second spectral bandwidth into an optical assembly along a common optical path. The optical assembly then separates the spectral bandwidth by directing the first spectral bandwidth onto an image-generation optical path and the second spectral bandwidth onto a terrain-mapping optical path. The optical system deploys the MEMS scanners to generate CG images by directing the first spectral bandwidth within the image-generation optical path and also to irradiate a terrain by directing the second spectral bandwidth within the terrain-mapping optical path. Accordingly, the disclosed system provides substantial reductions in both weight and cost for systems such as, for example, augmented reality and virtual reality systems.

  • Patent number: 10583400
Abstract: Membrane elements that use multiple membrane leaves may have a limited total active membrane area due to an increased diameter at the ends of the element. Membrane leaves may comprise a permeate carrier positioned between one or more membrane sheets. Adhesive may be used to seal one or more edges of the membrane leaf. The membrane sheets, permeate carrier and the adhesive contribute to the thickness of the edges of the membrane leaf and the diameter at the ends of the element. A reduced thickness of the edges of the permeate carrier may reduce the diameter at the ends of an element. Another permeate carrier sheet may also be used that is distanced from at least one edge of the membrane sheet so the permeate carrier sheet does not contribute towards the increased diameter at the ends of the element.
