  • Patent number: 10359627
Abstract: An apparatus for use in replicating an image associated with an input-pupil to an output-pupil includes a planar optical waveguide including a bulk-substrate, and also including an input-coupler, an intermediate-component and an output-coupler. The input-coupler couples light corresponding to the image into the bulk-substrate and towards the intermediate-component. The intermediate-component performs horizontal or vertical pupil expansion and directs the light corresponding to the image towards the output-coupler. The output-coupler performs the other one of horizontal or vertical pupil expansion and couples light corresponding to the image, which travels from the input-coupler to the output-coupler, out of the waveguide. The apparatus further includes an adjacent planar optical component to provide a more uniform intensity distribution compared to if the adjacent planar optical component were absent.

  • Publication number: 20190222388
Abstract: The present invention provides methods and apparatuses for implementation of cyclic prefix (CP) and demodulation reference signal (DMRS) in 2 sub-carrier pi/2 binary phase shift keying (BPSK) modulation in a communication system. DMRS symbols arc interleaved with data-carrying symbols and configured such that they are alternatingly transmitted on different ones of the two sub-carriers. When a DMRS symbol is transmitted on one sub-carrier, the other sub-carrier may be unused. In implementing CP, phase rotations may be applied to modulation symbols, such that each concurrently transmitted pair of symbols is subjected to a same phase rotation. The phase rotation can be derived based on an average frequency of the two (e.g. adjacent) sub-carriers in use. The phase rotations can be updated recursively, and the update multiplied by a scaling factor.

  • Patent number: 10320535
Abstract: A two-wire process variable transmitter for use in an industrial process includes a process variable sensor configured to sense a process variable of a process fluid of the industrial process. Output circuitry provides an output on a two-wire process control loop which is related to the sensed process variable. Terminal voltage measurement circuitry measures a voltage at terminals of the process variable transmitter. The terminal voltage is a voltage measured across an electrical connection of the two-wire process variable transmitter to the two-wire process control loop. A microprocessor performs loop diagnostics on the two-wire process control loop based upon a loop current and the measured terminal voltage. The microprocessor determines coefficients of a polynomial equation which relates loop current and terminal voltage during normal operation of the two-wire process variable transmitter and performs subsequent diagnostics based upon the coefficients of the polynomial.

  • Publication number: 20190171020
Abstract: An optical system that deploys micro electro mechanical system (MEMS) scanners to contemporaneously generate CG images and to scan a terrain of a real-world environment. An illumination engine emits a first spectral bandwidth and a second spectral bandwidth into an optical assembly along a common optical path. The optical assembly then separates the spectral bandwidth by directing the first spectral bandwidth onto an image-generation optical path and the second spectral bandwidth onto a terrain-mapping optical path. The optical system deploys the MEMS scanners to generate CG images by directing the first spectral bandwidth within the image-generation optical path and also to irradiate a terrain by directing the second spectral bandwidth within the terrain-mapping optical path. Accordingly, the disclosed system provides substantial reductions in both weight and cost for systems such as, for example, augmented reality and virtual reality systems.

  • Publication number: 20190172176
Abstract: Aspects include a multistage collector to receive outputs from plural processing elements. Processing elements may comprise (each or collectively) a plurality of clusters, with one or more ALUs that may perform SIMD operations on a data vector and produce outputs according to the instruction stream being used to configure the ALU(s). The multistage collector includes substituent components each with at least one input queue, a memory, a packing unit, and an output queue; these components can be sized to process groups of input elements of a given size, and can have multiple input queues and a single output queue. Some components couple to receive outputs from the ALUs and others receive outputs from other components. Ultimately, the multistage collector can output groupings of input elements. Each grouping of elements (e.g., at input queues, or stored in the memories of component) can be formed based on matching of index elements.

  • Publication number: 20190174293
Abstract: A method and apparatus for quickly forming a PAN is describe herein. During operation a device will detect that it has gone from a charging state to a non-charging state (i.e., a battery not being charged). Moving from a charging state to a non-charging state is utilized as a trigger to form or join a PAN. Thus, a PAN can quickly be formed at the beginning of an officer's shift, simply by removing devices from a charger.
