  • Patent number: 6523111
Abstract: Method and program product operable on a computer for changing configuration/setup parameters in an embedded controller type X86 based computer system, the system characterized by the absence of any keyboard or video display, from a remote terminal. The power on self test sequence is modified to produce an externally detectable audio-visual signal indicating potential access through a port as an aspect of communicating configuration/setup from the remote terminal. Communication is established through the port of the embedded controller using a refined interrupt which selectively accepts keyboard data entered at a remote terminal and translates that data into configuration/setup parameters for the embedded controller.

  • Patent number: 6502550
Abstract: An ignition and fuel control system 10 of a vehicle 18 is provided including a controller 22. The controller 22 is electrically coupled to an ignition system 14, a fuel system 16, a crankshaft position sensor 32, and a camshaft position sensor 34. The crankshaft position sensor 32 senses a crankshaft position and generates a crankshaft position signal. A camshaft position sensor 34 senses a camshaft position and generates a camshaft position signal. The controller 22 determines a crankshaft position and a camshaft position in response to the crankshaft position signal and the camshaft position signal respectively. The controller 22 identifies a reference engine cylinder in response to the crankshaft position and the camshaft position and generates a synchronization value. The controller 22 also enables the ignition system 14 and the fuel system 16 in response to the synchronization value.

  • Patent number: 6389815
Abstract: A two-stage fuel nozzle assembly for a gas turbine engine. The primary combustion region is centrally positioned and includes a fuel injector that is surrounded by one or more swirl chambers to provide a fuel air mixture that is ignited to define a first stage combustion zone. A secondary combustion region is provided by an annular housing that surrounds the primary combustion region, and it includes a secondary fuel injector having a radially outwardly directed opening and surrounded by an annular ring that includes openings for providing a swirl chamber for the secondary combustion region. Cooling air is directed angularly between the primary and secondary combustion zones to delay intermixing and thereby allow more complete combustion of the respective zones prior to their coalescing further downstream. The primary combustion region is activated during idle and low engine power conditions and both the primary and secondary combustion regions are activated during high engine power conditions.

  • Patent number: 6366262
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for supporting multiple display sessions through a single address on a non-programmable-terminal (NPT) attached to a host computer by a work station controller (WSC). The WSC enables shared addressing of multiple display sessions on the NPT. The WSC changes focus to a selected one of the multiple display sessions responsive to receiving from the host computer a data stream for a requested display session not having the focus and responsive to receiving a change focus request from the NPT. The NPT may have one display session active for the user interface and a different display session having the focus communicating with the host computer, which is transparent to the user and to the host computer.

  • Publication number: 20010038859
Abstract: This invention relates to stable non-aqueous formulations which are suspensions of proteinaceous substances or nucleic acids in non-aqueous, anhydrous, aprotic, hydrophobic, non-polar vehicles with low reactivity. More specifically, the present invention relates to stable protein or nucleic acid formulations wherein the compound remains in stable, dry powder form, yet the formulation is flowable and, therefore amenable to delivery to an animal via injection, transdermal administration, oral delivery or using an implantable device for sustained delivery. These stable formulations may be stored at elevated temperatures (e.g., 37° C.) for long periods of time and are especially useful as flowable formulations which can be shipped and/or stored at high temperatures or in implantable delivery devices for long term delivery (e.g., 1-12 months or longer) of drug.

  • Patent number: 6283137
Abstract: An improved priming assembly which maybe used for siphoning, includes a siphon tube comprising an inlet end and a discharge end. The discharge end may be connected to a discharge hose that leads to a discharge area. A one-way valve is inserted within the tube adjacent to the inlet end of the tube. The valve comprises a flexible rubber sheath a portion of which is sealed to the inner surface of the tube and which extends toward the discharge end. The sheath is movable from an open position to a closed position. When fluid is caused to flow from the inlet end to the discharge end, the sheath moves to its open position allowing fluid flow. When fluid is caused to flow from the discharge end toward the inlet end, the sheath collapses to the closed position such that it prevents flow of fluid toward the inlet end. Priming of the siphon is created when the sheath collapses into its closed position, under the weight of the fluid as the rigid siphon tube is thrust upwardly.

  • Patent number: 6275199
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for displaying image and facsimile data on a host-based application display. A host computer generates control and download command data for displaying the image or facsimile data. The image and facsimile data is processed by a non-programmable-terminal (NPT) or a programmable work station (PWS) for presentation of a display screen. When a user requests another function, the NPT or PWS stores image information and sends image information to the host computer. The save image information includes cache image counter data, scaling and viewed image screen location data that is used to restore the displayed image and facsimile data when the user returns to the previous function. Both the user and host application can specify a foreground color and a background color for the image and facsimile data display.

  • Patent number: 6236747
Abstract: An inspection system and method uses a first illumination apparatus, such as a ring illumination apparatus to illuminate one or more reflective elements, such as solder balls on an electronic component or other protruding surfaces or objects. The ring illumination apparatus includes a substantially ring-shaped light source that provides a substantially even illumination across the one or more reflective elements. An illumination detection device detects light beams reflecting off of the illuminated reflective elements for forming a first captured image. The system and method then uses a second, different illumination apparatus, such as an on-axis illumination apparatus to illuminate the reflective elements. The second illumination apparatus is selected so as to illuminate unwanted reflective elements substantially the same as they are illuminated by the first illumination apparatus while illuminating the desired reflective elements differently.

  • Patent number: 6201892
Abstract: An inspection system and method uses a first illumination apparatus to illuminate one or more features, such as solder balls on an electronic component or other protruding surfaces or features on an object being inspected. Once the object being inspected is illuminated, a first reflected image of the plurality of features is captured by an illumination detection device. The first reflected image is stored in an image buffer. The object being inspected is then illuminated by at least one additional illumination apparatus. Each additional illumination apparatus is selected so that it differs from the other illumination apparatuses in either geometrical arrangement, degree of diffusion or illumination characteristic. An additional reflected image of the object is then captured by the illumination detection device while the object is illuminated by each additional illumination apparatus. Each additional reflected image is also stored in an image buffer.
