Abstract: Presented herein are methods for treating diarrhea by administering to a patient in need thereof, an inhibitor of chloride-ion transport in an amount sufficient to treat diarrhea. Treatment of diarrhea includes the treatment of the diarrhea as well as the pain, abdominal discomfort and other symptoms associated with diarrhea. In one embodiment, the inhibitor of chloride-ion transport is crofelemer.

Abstract: A grate filtration system filters trash and debris from water flowing through a water channel by way of two vertical grates that intersect at a vertex and form a wedge shape that protrudes into the direction of flow of water in the channel. The grates are removably supported in grooves on side and center pillar supports. The vertical grates provide a spillway near the vertex. The system further includes a concrete apron that provides a smooth surface for the system and has grooves to support and retain the bottom edges of the vertical grates.

For example, an inter-processor interrupt can be used to notify the core or hardware thread. The message engine may generate notifications in response to one or more message received from a transmitting message engine. Message engines may communicate without sharing memory space.

Abstract: In one embodiment, the present invention includes a method for receiving incoming data in a processor and performing a checksum operation on the incoming data in the processor pursuant to a user-level instruction for the checksum operation. For example, a cyclic redundancy checksum may be computed in the processor itself responsive to the user-level instruction. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: A mobile mattress sanitizing and cleaning system. A cleaning chamber and drying chamber may be located within the body of truck which may also carry a water supply and steam generator. The cleaning and drying chambers are dimensioned and configured to receive a mattress therein, and may be separate or combined. The mattress is steam cleaned in the cleaning chamber and air dried in the drying chamber. The cleaning and drying chambers may face the rear of the truck to facilitate loading and may be oriented such that mattresses stand on edge when being cleaned and dried. The system may include a water purifier. Drying may be conducted by blowers mounted to the drying chamber. Drying air may be heated.

Abstract: Techniques are described to provide the capability to halt execution of a thread by a processor and potentially lower power consumption of the processor while responding to events in a timely manner. An operating system provided system call allows for identification of events that cause the execution of the thread to resume. A processor core uses a signal mask and translation unit that monitors for the identified events. In the event an event is detected, the thread unhalts and determines a manner to process the event.
