  • Patent number: 7630898
Abstract: Disclosed are various elements of a toolkit used for generating a TTS voice for use in a spoken dialog system. The embodiments in each case may be in the form of the system, a computer-readable medium or a method for generating the TTS voice. One embodiment of the invention relates to a method of generating a database for a TTS voice. The method comprises matching every spoken word associated with a TTS voice database with a smallest set of possible pronunciations for each word. The smallest set is generated by automatically determining a dialect and linguistic context using linguistic rules, empirically determining idiosyncratic speaker characteristics and determining a subject domain. The method further comprises dynamically generating a pronunciation dictionary on a word-by-word basis using the smallest set.

  • Patent number: 7620023
Abstract: A solution is provided wherein the mobile device selects a multislot class based on the profile of the traffic to be utilized by the mobile device. This may be performed manually by a user, or may be performed automatically where an application or driver software automatically and dynamically determines the best multislot class for the applications being used. This can be accomplished, for example, by looking at the classification of the transport control protocol (TCP) port numbers used, by examining the data sent and received by the network, and/or looking up a profile for the user or device. If the user changes applications or some other event occurs on the mobile device that might cause a change in the profile of the traffic, the mobile device may terminate its current multislot class assignment and re-announce itself, allowing the system to transfer the mobile device to a new multislot class.

  • Patent number: 7574030
Abstract: Film-based images can be scanned in a conventional manner, then digitally designated and “cut” from the digital file resulting from the scan. These selected images can then be collated and registered as individual images, or slices in certain contexts, allowing them to be assembled in various presentations, such as in stack mode with digitally-acquired images. The resulting collated files can then be stored by the user as a new series of images. The technique thus greatly facilitates the access and comparison of the images regardless of the originating medium.

  • Publication number: 20090094529
Abstract: Certain embodiments of the present invention provide methods and systems for execution of clinical workflows via a clinical application system. Certain embodiments provide a clinical application system facilitating completion of clinical workflow tasks. The system includes a processor configured to associate tasks in a clinical workflow with external actors. The system also includes a user interface displaying clinical information to a user. The tasks are represented as links in the user interface. Each of the links triggers access to a corresponding external actor. Selection of at least one of the task links via the user interface triggers at least one of execution of and access to at least one of the external actors.

  • Patent number: 7466323
Abstract: A method and apparatus for displaying annotations on a digital image such that the viewing area is simplified and maximized. Abbreviated reason codes are employed, thereby increasing the number of annotations that may be displayed concurrently with an image and reducing the obtrusiveness of the annotations. The abbreviated reason codes may provide information to viewers about the significance of the image. Viewers may configure where the annotations are displayed and may associate priorities with the reason codes such that annotations of interest may be displayed more prominently or accessibly. Likewise, text descriptions associated with an annotation may be hidden until requested by a viewer. In instances where the number of annotations exceeds some configurable threshold, the excess annotations may be hidden unless requested.
