  • Patent number: 9747265
Abstract: A system and method allowing customization of a user-interface into a data repository are disclosed. Customization options are provided via a hierarchy and/or compartmentalization of structured control files such as Extensible Markup Language (XML) files. The control files may be defined in a hierarchical fashion allowing a particular end-user or group of end-users to customize their interface without impacting other users of the same data and user-interface system. Compartmentalization of functions to specific files may also aid in ease of maintenance of customizations. Customization may include an ability to customize what data is shown on a screen and which capabilities are available on each screen for data interaction pertaining to a particular job responsibility. Capabilities to provide these and other customization options to an end-user are disclosed using an example of an import export trade transaction storage and retrieval system.

  • Publication number: 20170037356
Abstract: Two-dimensional materials, particularly graphene-based materials, having a plurality of apertures therein can be formed into enclosures for various substances and a fibrous layer can be provided on an outside and/or on an inside of the enclosure. The enclosures can be exposed to an environment, such as a biological environment (in vivo or in vitro), where the fibrous layer can promote vascular ingrowth. One or more substances within the enclosure can be released into the environment, one or more selected substances from the environment can enter the enclosure, one or more selected substances from the environment can be prevented from entering the enclosure, one or more selected substances can be retained within the enclosure, or combinations thereof. The enclosure can, for example, allow a sense-response paradigm to be realized. The enclosure can, for example, provide immunoisolation for materials, such as living cells, retained therein.

  • Patent number: 9525561
Abstract: A novel mechanism is disclosed by which a sender can direct information such as an audiovisual signal to a particular recipient's audiovisual display device, such as a cable television set and, thereby, share information between the sender and the recipient. In one embodiment, a calling party originates a telephone call and associates that telephone call with audio-visual information that exists on the caller's personal computer or on an Internet server. The called party answers the call, and can tune an associated cable television to the appropriate channel in order to view the audio-visual information. In another embodiment, the caller is a hotel guest and the called party is a hotel concierge and vice versa. The concierge provides information to the hotel guest such that the hotel guest can tune in to a channel on their hotel television set and access the information.

  • Publication number: 20160363547
Abstract: The invention relates to methods and systems for measuring the melting point of a material. The method and systems of the invention may reduce the time required to determine the melting point of one or more samples. Furthermore, the methods and systems of the invention result in an accurate and precise measurement of the melting temperature. Thus, the method and system of the invention are preferred over current methods for measuring the melting point.

  • Patent number: 9177286
Abstract: A free trade qualification system to determine whether finished products qualify for a given free trade agreement. Bill of materials maintenance uses tables that constitute the bill of materials, including an item master table and an item relationship table. The item master table contains records for the parts and finished products. The item relationship table contains all relationships between items structured as parent to child in a recursive manner. Free trade qualification traverses the bill of materials to calculate whether a given finished product is qualified. The harmonized tariff code for the part or subassembly being processed is evaluated in terms of the appropriate qualification rules to determine which of these rules applies to the part in the context of its relationship to the subassembly being processed.

  • Publication number: 20150217219
Abstract: It can be difficult to remove atomically thin films, such as graphene, graphene-based material and other two-dimensional materials, from a growth substrate and then to transfer the thin films to a secondary substrate. Tearing and conformality issues can arise during the removal and transfer processes. Processes for forming a composite structure by manipulating a two-dimensional material, such as graphene or graphene-base material, can include: providing a two-dimensional material adhered to a growth substrate; depositing a supporting layer on the two-dimensional material while the two-dimensional material is adhered to the growth substrate; and releasing the two-dimensional material from the growth substrate, the two-dimensional material remaining in contact with the supporting layer following release of the two-dimensional material from the growth substrate.

  • Patent number: 9063905
Abstract: Virtualized Shared Use Environment—database driven selector of specific a) company software, b) equipment location, and c) peripherals available. The selected elements together create a Virtualized Hypercart (VH) which carries all the variable elements necessary to select the appropriate running virtual machine. Derived from the above information, the system control software (SCS) selects from a table of available virtual machines that match the requirements of company software, equipment location, peripherals available and from the company software selection, the IP addressing schemes required and available for use by the virtual machine. Dynamic IP Address Injection—based on the VH, the IP addressing scheme is injected into the virtual machine that contains the appropriate company software for the type of location that made the request with the peripherals available for use by the virtual machine.

  • Patent number: 8955031
Abstract: The invention provides a system and method that transforms a set of still/motion media (i.e., a series of related or unrelated still frames, web-pages rendered as images, or video clips) or other multimedia, into a video stream that is suitable for delivery over a display medium, such as TV, cable TV, computer displays, wireless display devices, etc. The video data stream may be presented and displayed in real time or stored and later presented through a set-top box, for example. Because these media are transformed into coded video streams (e.g. MPEG-2, MPEG-4, etc.), a user can watch them on a display screen without the need to connect to the Internet through a service provider. The user may request and interact with the desired media through a simple telephone interface, for example. Moreover, several wireless and cable-based services can be developed on the top of this system.

  • Patent number: 8646493
Abstract: In a method and apparatus for changeover of containers of a highly soluble substance in a continuous flow process, fluid is flowed through a container of the substance to generate a solution until the substance is depleted and the concentration of the solution starts to drop. The solution from the first container is then directed through a second container containing a charge of the substance to maintain a saturated solution. When the first container is fully exhausted, the flow of fluid is switched to isolate the first container and to flow the fluid directly into the second container whereupon the first container can be safely removed. The arrangement is operated as a lead lag system with solution flowing through the containers at or close to plug flow to minimize mixing.

  • Patent number: 8484659
Abstract: A system and method for distributing processing utilizing message queues as a method of distributing binary objects as “messages” and invoking the embedded logic of the received message to perform a portion of a distributed application is disclosed. More particularly, but not by way of limitation, a system and method for the integrated distribution and execution of objects as they are retrieved or extracted from a message queue on a remote system to provide executable functionality portions of a distributed application. In one embodiment a failed processing step results in the message being retained in the message queue to allow for subsequent retry processing.

  • Patent number: 8170926
Abstract: A system, method and computer program product for instant redirection of an online consumer from a referring website to a vendor website is disclosed. The method includes administering, via a single administrator, a plurality of referring websites in a plurality of goods and service provider categories and associating a single URL (uniform resource locator) for a client's website with at least one zip code as predetermined by the client. The method also includes automatically determining a zip code for the consumer visiting one of referring websites and comparing the zip code predetermined by the client with the consumer's zip code for a match. The method further includes instantly redirecting the consumer's browser to the client's website via the single URL when there is a match and otherwise directing the consumer's browser to a self-maintaining goods and service provider directory for a specific zip code.
