  • Publication number: 20050153263
Abstract: Methodologies for improving a student's phonemic awareness, decoding, spelling, oral and written comprehension are described herein. The method is embodied in a suite of twelve exercises operable on a computing device. The exercises are geared towards training of 1st and 2nd grade students but are not limited to that. The methods present an entertaining screen environment, with target stimulus, and foil or distracter stimulus presented visually, textually, and aurally. The student is required to identify the target stimulus from the distracter stimulus within the context of each exercise. Progress from easier trials to more difficult trials is made as the student successfully completes particular difficulty levels.

  • Publication number: 20050154995
Abstract: A method for displaying a slide show containing an outline that follows the progression of the user's presentation comprising a Configuration Program (CP) and an Intelligent Agenda Program (IAP). The CP allows the user to configure the intelligent agenda of the present invention. When configuring the display options, the user can configure the expansion of the outline on the intelligent agenda, limit the number of displayed lines in the intelligent agenda, and limit the topics displayed on the intelligent agenda. The IAP runs whenever the user runs the presentation program associated with the present invention. The IAP displays the outline according to the expansion configuration and modifies the outline based on the configuration limitations defined by the user. The intelligent agenda tracks the user's progression through the presentation and indicates to the audience the contextual location of the current topic in the presentation outline.

  • Publication number: 20050113695
Abstract: A method of medical ultrasonic imaging is provided. The method includes transmitting a plurality of ultrasonic waves into a volume such that each successive wave is transmitted into the volume at a steering angle different than each preceding transmitted wave, receiving a plurality of ultrasonic echoes for each of the plurality of transmitted ultrasonic waves, each received echo is indicative of a density interface within the volume, each set of received echoes that corresponds to a single transmitted wave defines a steering frame, combining steering frames into a compound image, and identifying distal shadows in each steering frame.

  • Publication number: 20050102303
Abstract: Under the present invention, columns of the user data schema are first matched to corresponding columns of the mining model schema. Once the columns are matched, it will be determined whether data within matching columns of the user data schema has a data type different than data within the corresponding columns of the mining model schema. If so, the data within the matching columns of the user data schema is transformed to match the data type of the data within the corresponding columns of the mining model schema. After any transformation is performed, the user/operator is provided with an opportunity to alter or override the mapping. Once the final mapping is provided, one or more matching resources can be updated to reflect the mapping.

  • Publication number: 20050101877
Abstract: A method for diagnosis of a mood disorder or predisposition therefor in a test subject is disclosed. The method includes the steps of determining binocular rivalry rate in the test subject and comparing the binocular rivalry rate with a corresponding reference rivalry rate to diagnose presence or absence of the mood disorder or predisposition therefor. Also disclosed is use of the diagnostic method in genetic linkage studies for the identification of the molecular defect(s) underlying these disorders, and for the identification of compounds which may alleviate such disorders.

  • Publication number: 20050066147
Abstract: An address translation unit generates a physical address for access to a memory from a virtual address using either a translation lookaside buffer or a segmentation buffer. If the virtual address falls within a predetermined range, the address translation unit will use the segmentation buffer to generate the physical address. Upon generation of the physical address, the memory will either receive data from or provide data to a processor in accordance with the instructions being processed by the processor.

  • Publication number: 20050054925
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus providing tissue harmonic imaging using an ultrasound machine. Coded pulses and the phase inverted version of the said coded pulses with time bandwidth greater than 1 are transmitted into the tissue. Backscattered echoes are received and filtered before or after coherent summation. Decoding/compressing of the received echoes of the coded pulses is implemented naturally through the propagation of the specially designed ultrawide band (>80%) waveforms inside tissue and pulse inversion. Costly decoding/compression filter are not necessary.

  • Publication number: 20050054466
Abstract: An idler or tensioning assembly for an electronically controlled sanding/polishing machine is provided, the sanding/polishing machine utilizing a plurality of exchangeable polishing wheel assemblies of which the idler assembly is one. Each polishing wheel assembly interfaces with the sanding/polishing machine through a coolant manifold and a polishing wheel shaft receptor. The idler assembly is operative to provide releasable tension to a sanding/polishing belt that is situated around the idler and the associated sanding/polishing wheel. The idler assembly has a pivoting idler that is actuated by a hydraulic cylinder. The hydraulic cylinder utilizes coolant tapped from the coolant manifold of the idler assembly for actuation. Coolant is provided to the hydraulic cylinder in response to a valve signal. The idler assembly thus has a tensioned mode and an untensioned mode.
