Abstract: Disclosed is a signal processing method and system for routing audio and/or video data. The signal processing system comprises an input device for receiving audio and/or video data over multiple input paths and for combining the data from the plural input paths into serial data of a serialized data block. A user interface for controlling a reordering of the serial data contained within the serialized data block is included within the signal processing system. The signal processing system also comprises an output device for distributing a first portion of the serial data in the serialized data block to a first output path and a second portion of the serial data of the serialized data block to a second output path.

  • Patent number: 7286774
Abstract: A toner cartridge having a microcontroller configured to store data necessary to create a message authentication code required by the printer. The microcontroller contains data values capable of generating acceptable MACs for a plurality of printers. The microcontroller recognizes a variety of unique parameters displayed by the printer's processor to identify the printer being used. • Publication number: 20070236352
Abstract: To warn of hazardous conditions in a monitored space, the presence of an object bearing an RFID tag is detected using an RFID tag reader. Objects may be, for example, human beings, vehicles, or stationary materiel. A determination is made as to whether the object poses a hazard by, for example, reading data from the RFID tag or by accessing a database using data read from the RFID tag. If the object is determined to pose a hazard, the nature of the hazard is determined from the RFID tag or the database, and warning about the nature of the hazard is provided proximate to the monitored space. In some embodiments, providing the warning may be conditional upon detecting the concurrent presence of two objects in the monitored space.

  • Publication number: 20070224578
Abstract: Methodologies for improving a student's phonemic awareness, decoding, spelling, oral and written comprehension are described herein. The method is embodied in a suite of twelve exercises operable on a computing device. The exercises are geared towards training of 1st and 2nd grade students but are not limited to that. The methods present an entertaining screen environment, with target stimulus, and foil or distracter stimulus presented visually, textually, and aurally. The student is required to identify the target stimulus from the distracter stimulus within the context of each exercise. Progress from easier trials to more difficult trials is made as the student successfully completes particular difficulty levels.

  • Patent number: 7257356
Abstract: A toner cartridge with a handle formed centrally in a trailing end of the cartridge. The handle is dished to comfortably accept a hand and is adapted such that a user will recognize that said handle is dedicated to receiving the user's hand. The cartridge is therefore installed and removed without binding since the user's hand is centered as a result of the placement of the user's hand in said handle.

  • Publication number: 20070171417
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for performing scatterometry measurements of biological samples as described herein. A substrate having formed therein one or more sample wells is provided. Each sample well is configured to hold a sample solution containing objects that are to be characterized based on their light scattering properties. One or more sample solutions are dispensed into the sample wells. A specular reflection reducing element is applied to at least some of the sample solutions in the sample wells to decrease reflections of light into one or more detectors. A light beam is directed from a light source onto the objects in the sample wells. Light scattered by the objects in the sample wells is collected and transmitted to one or more detectors. The signal from the detectors is analyzed to detect the one or more characteristics of the one or more samples.

  • Patent number: 7248673
Abstract: An integrated component mounting system that includes a component mounted to a shaft and secured in place by a nut. The component and the nut each define respective annular shaped surfaces. The shaped surfaces are each inclined at a similar angle and are arranged for sliding contact with respect to each other. As the nut is tightened on the shaft, the shaped surface of the nut exerts both radial and axial forces on the shaped surface of the component, thereby automatically centering the component radially on the shaft as well as securing the component at a desired location along the shaft.

  • Publication number: 20070131084
Abstract: This development allows Luthiers of fretted instruments an uncompensated method of installing frets with increased accuracy. It is an improvement in calculation of fret placement over the “Rule of 18”, because it relies on the length of the vibrating string. This method is more critical at the end of the fret board closest to the bridge, due to the angle formed by the string when depressed, with respect to the axis of the fret board. With respect to the twelve step octave, the scale length is multiplied by the constant of “the twelfth root of 0.5” to calculate the length of the string from fret contact to saddle contact for the next tonal step.
