  • Publication number: 20050168801
Abstract: An electro-optic display (100) comprising a backplane (102), a layer (112) of electro-optic material and a protective layer (128) capable of absorbing ultra-violet radiation and disposed on the opposed side of the layer (112) of electro-optic material from the backplane (102), is provided with an edge seal (130). The protective layer (128) extends beyond the layer (112) of electro-optic material, thus leaving a peripheral gap between the protective layer (128) and the backplane (102). To form the edge seal (130) an uncured edge sealing material curable by radiation transmitted by the protective layer (128) is placed in the gap and cured by transmitting radiation through the protective layer (128).

  • Patent number: 6853468
Abstract: A technique is described to greatly reduce or avoid the quantization errors that occur when mapping a relatively linear RGB color space into a greatly non-linear printer CMY color space of equal precision, avoiding the contouring or banding that occurs when printing color gradients in a non-linear printing system. The technique performs a dither-like process on the original RGB continuous tone data. The RGB values are dithered to create a range of values that, when mapped to the non-linear printer continuous tone CMY values, creates a range of CMY values that, on average, represent the correct average tone of the input RGB values. The generated CMY continuous tone values are then halftoned and printed.

  • Publication number: 20040265558
Abstract: The present invention discloses the extrusion of a thermally conductive polymer composition containing a continuous core of carbon fiber reinforcing. The material is created in a machine that is configured to hold a spool containing a continuous strand of carbon fiber core material. The carbon fiber strand is unrolled off the spool and is fed into a preheating chamber to bring the temperature of the strand to a pre-designated level. The strand is then fed into a port in an extruding head on a pressure extruding machine. A molten polymer matrix is also fed into the extruding head thereby extruding the polymer matrix onto, around and between the individual carbon fibers contained in the strand. The singular extruded composite strand that emerges from the extrusion head is then cooled and deionized before cutting the composite strand into pellets of a desired length for further processing and use as injection molding feedstock.
