  • Patent number: 12059624
Abstract: A method for gaming. The method includes assigning a default game play profile to a user, wherein the default game play profile includes a default game play style that simulates human game play, and wherein the default game play profile is configured to control game play for the user based on the default game play style. The method includes monitoring a plurality of game plays of the user playing a plurality of gaming applications. The method includes generating a user game play profile of the user by adjusting the default game play style based on the plurality of game plays, wherein the user game play profile incudes a user game play style customized to the user. The method includes controlling an instance of a first gaming application based on the user game play style of the user game play profile.

  • Patent number: 12062356
Abstract: To protect a user's privacy by reducing a malicious developer's ability to eavesdrop on unwitting HMD users by converting signals from a motion sensor in the HMD to speech or speaker recognition, a microphone can record ambient sound and voice which is subtracted from the motion sensor data before the sensor data is made available to the game developer. Additionally, ANC (active noise cancellation) techniques can be adapted to cancel noise from a motion sensor's data. In another technique, a band pass filter subtracts frequency in the sensor signals within the voice range. Still a third technique blends statistical noise into the motion sensor signal before passing to game developers to obfuscate the user's speech.

  • Patent number: 12042729
Abstract: Systems and methods for executing content to be rendered on a screen of a head mounted display (HMD) are provided. One method includes executing the content to render interactive scenes on the screen and tracking an orientation direction of the HMD when worn on a head of a user and the interactive scenes are being rendered on the screen. The method includes changing view directions into the interactive scenes based on changes in the orientation direction of the HMD, such that movements of the head of the user causes the changes in the view directions into the interactive scenes. The method further includes receiving images of a real world space using a camera of the HMD. The camera of the HMD is configured to capture a location of real world objects in the real world space relative to the user of the HMD.

  • Patent number: 12023579
Abstract: Methods and systems for spectating a live video game are presented. In one method embodiment, an operation includes providing an interface for presenting an overhead view of an interactive environment of a video game on a head mounted display (HMD). The method also provides an operation for providing a magnifying window for displaying a magnified view of the interactive environment, where the magnified view is associated with a second vantage point that is closer to the interactive environment than is a first vantage point of the overhead view. The method further provides an operation for tracking a real-world position of a controller of the spectator and moving the location of the magnifying window to correspond to the real-world position of the controller.

  • Patent number: 12019795
Abstract: A user's eyes and if desired head is tracked as the user's gaze follows a moving object on a display. Motion blur of the moving object is keyed to the eye/head tracking. Motion blur of other objects in the frame also may be keyed to the eye/head tracking.

  • Publication number: 20240165509
Abstract: An artificial intelligence (AI) model generates a control input for a virtual player of a video game based on input state data. A video stream of the video game is generated based on the control input for the virtual player of the video game. The video stream is transmitted to a client device. Training feedback data is received from the client device and includes a time-dependent series of human-generated feedback elements correlated to the video stream. Each feedback element indicates that the control input for the virtual player of the video game, as generated by the AI model, is either a player-approved control input or a player-disapproved control input. AI model training includes reinforcing use of the player-approved control input for the virtual player in response to the input state data, and diminishing use of the player-disapproved control input for the virtual player in response to the input state data.

  • Publication number: 20240149159
Abstract: Important information with respect to image generation such as computer game video generation can be lost once the full image is composed. To avoid this, a customized capture script is created for a computer game to specify what to capture, for future use, in the middle of rendering a game video frame, such as frame buffer, depth buffer, stencil buffers, etc. The script also specifies when during frame rendering the data is to be recorded. By capturing data mid-frame, object boundaries on the screen and relative distances between objects can be inferred. This information can be used in 2D-to-3D conversion, object coloring for increased contrast, object highlighting, etc.

  • Patent number: 11972060
Abstract: A system that teaches players gestures, for instance during the introduction of the game, and asks the player to invoke the gesture. Rather than asking the player to repeat over and over until the player succeeds, the game looks for commonality in the player's attempts, and after a small number of attempts, the game can learn how that player interprets the gesture given the player's own ability. The game can then adapt itself to look for that pattern to trigger the action.

  • Publication number: 20240127390
Abstract: A watermark representing a link to an original video and/or metadata such as haptic metadata associated with the original video is embedded in the original video in such a way that a re-recording to the original video can still preserve the watermark. The watermark can be used to link to the original video or to the metadata related thereto.

  • Publication number: 20240115940
Abstract: A method for managing gameplay of a video game is provided, including: executing a session of a video game by a cloud gaming resource; streaming video generated by the session over a network to a client device associated to a player of the video game, to enable gameplay of the session by the player; detecting a loss of network connectivity between the client device and the session; responsive to detecting the loss of network connectivity, then initiating transmission of updates regarding the session, via an alternative communication channel, to a secondary device associated to the player.

  • Publication number: 20240066399
Abstract: Techniques are described for smooth switchover of computer game control. The current states of game input is communicated to a new player assuming control. The new player is allowed time to catch up to the game. New player control is detected, and any errors are communicated to the new player. If there are differences between the old control scheme and that of the new player, they are reconciled. The outgoing player is adjusted to the transition.

  • Publication number: 20240042314
Abstract: A player who is interrupted during play of a computer simulation such as a computer game and must attend to other matters (colloquially referred to herein as being “away from keyboard” or “AFK”) is assisted in three phases. A first type of assistance is rendered when entering AFK, as in, at the start of the interruption. A second type of assistance is rendered during AFK, while the player is away. A third type of assistance is rendered when the player returns from AFK to the computer simulation.

  • Publication number: 20240041319
Abstract: A map of a person's spatial vision abilities, including areas of low acuity and areas of high acuity, may be generated from medical records or from a calibration phase. During presentation of a computer simulation such as a computer game, the map is provided to a foveated renderer to optimize which areas should be rendered most crisply. Content placement may be optimized to ensure that any critical elements to the game, for instance, any text that needs to be seen or treasures or special pickups that need to be seen clearly can be moved into regions of the player's field of view that the person has higher acuity in.
