  • Patent number: 8589650
Abstract: In a digital system with a processor coupled to a paged memory system, the memory system may be dynamically configured using a memory compaction manager in order to allow portions of the memory to be placed in a low power mode. As applications are executed by the processor, program instructions are copied from a non-volatile memory coupled to the processor into pages of the paged memory system under control of an operating system. Pages in the paged memory system that are not being used by the processor are periodically identified. The paged memory system is compacted by copying pages that are being used by the processor from a second region of the paged memory into a first region of the paged memory. The second region may be placed in a low power mode when it contains no pages that are being used by the processor.

  • Publication number: 20130299245
Abstract: Expandable reamers for enlarging wellbores include a tubular body and one or more blades configured to extend and retract. A sleeve member within the tubular body has open ends to allow fluid to flow therethrough. A fluid port extends through a wall of the sleeve member. A restriction member within the sleeve is movable between first and second positions. In the first position, fluid flow through the downhole end of the sleeve is generally unimpeded, and fluid flow through the fluid port is generally impeded. In the second position, fluid flow through the downhole end of the sleeve member is generally impeded, and fluid flow through the fluid port is generally unimpeded. The restriction member may be configured to move responsive to changes in the rate of fluid flow through the sleeve member. Methods of using such reamers are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20130304922
Abstract: Methods and devices enable a device located on a source network to appear as a virtual device on a target network. Agent applications running on computers on the source and target networks communicate over a peer-to-peer network enabled by a super-peer networking server on the Internet. To share a device, the target network agent requests the source network agent to provide access to a device in the source network. The source network agent sends the device name, properties, and service template information to the target network agent. The target network agent uses the received information to announce itself as the device to the target network. Devices on the target network may request device services from the target network agent. Such requests are repackaged by the target network agent and sent to the source network agent. The source network agent redirects the service request to the actual device.

  • Publication number: 20130251006
Abstract: A system-on-chip integrated circuit 2 includes a packet transmitter 28 for generating data packets to be sent via a communication circuit 34 to a packet receiver 30 containing a buffer circuit 32. A transmitter counter 36 stores a transmitter count value counting data packets sent. A receiver counter 38 stores a receiver count value tracking data packets emptied from the buffer circuit 32. A comparison circuitry 40 is used to compare the transmitter count value and the receiver count value to determine whether or not there is storage space available within the buffer circuit 30 to receive transmission of further data packets. The packet transmitter 28 operates in a transmitter clock domain that is asynchronous from a receiver clock domain in which the packet receiver operates. One of the count values is passed across this asynchronous clock boundary in order that the comparison may be performed and flow control exercised.

  • Patent number: 8532374
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of classifying segmented contents of a scanned image of a document. The method comprise partitioning the scanned image into color segmented tiles at pixel level. The method then generates superpositioned segmented contents, each segmented content representing related color segments in at least one color segmented tile. Statistics are then calculated for each segmented content using pixel level statistics from each of the tile color segments included in segmented content, and then determines a classification for each segmented content based on the calculated statistics. The segmented content may be macroregions. The macroregions may form part of a multi-layered document representation of the document.
