    Abstract: An article is provided herein which includes an aqueous liquid detergent and a package for the aqueous liquid detergent which is in direct contact with the aqueous liquid detergent, wherein the package is formed from a water-soluble, film-forming material. The aqueous liquid detergent includes at least about 25% by weight of water based on the total weight of the aqueous liquid detergent, and at least about 25% by weight of a water-binding agent based on the total weight of the aqueous liquid detergent. The pH of the aqueous liquid detergent is in the range of about 7 to about 10, and the water activity of the aqueous liquid detergent is in the range of about 0.34 to about 0.64.

The detergent can be formed of a typical detergent that is combined with a polymer granulation aid to provide the detergent as a formulation comprising a plurality of particles. The fabric pouch can be water-soluble and can particularly be formed of fibers (e.g., woven or non-woven) that are water soluble. The fabric pouch can have a plurality of pores that provide for rapid infiltration of water for dissolution of the detergent therein and the pouch itself while still avoiding any significant loss of the detergent therefrom prior to use in washing.
