  • Publication number: 20050129066
Abstract: A system, method, and storage medium for transmitting data over a computer network to a predetermined recipient is provided. The system includes a first device configured to modify at least one data byte in a first data message based on a first message modification key value to obtain a modified first data message. The first message modification key value is determined based on at least one variable parameter. The first device is further configured to modify at least one data byte in a second data message based on a second modification key value to obtain a modified second data message. • Publication number: 20050114439
Abstract: Methods, systems, and products are disclosed for providing communications services. One method receives a request for electronic data, and the request for electronic data originating from a client communications device. The availability of network routing is assessed in real-time to fulfill the request. The availability of network bandwidth is assessed in real-time to fulfill the request. A preferred scenario of segmentation, dispersion, and assemblage of electronic data is ascertained to fulfill the request. Electronic data fulfilling the request is communicated to the client communications device, with the electronic data formatted according to the preferred scenario.

  • Publication number: 20050111444
Abstract: Methods, systems, and products are disclosed for providing communications services. One method receives a first data stream at a computer, and the first data stream includes packets of data packetized according to a packet protocol. The first data stream is segmented into segments according to a set of subscriber-specified rules stored in memory. A subscriber to a subscription service specifies the set of subscriber-specified rules, and the set of subscriber-specified rules specifies how electronic data is formatted for the subscriber. At least one segment is dispersed via a network for a subsequent processing service. A result of the processing service is received. A second data stream is assembled, and the second data stream includes at least one of i) the result of the processing service and ii) another segment. The second data stream is then communicated via the network.

  • Publication number: 20050114153
Abstract: Methods, systems, and products are disclosed for providing communications services. One method receives a request for communications service. The request for communications service originates from a client communications device associated with a user and requests communications service from a service provider. An availability of at least one of i) a communications network operated by the service provider and ii) another communications network operated by another service provider is dynamically assessed in real-time. A best-value scenario of segmentation, dispersion, assemblage, and routing of electronic data is assessed to fulfill the request. The best-value scenario maximizes profitability for the service provider. The communications service is provided to fulfill the request according to the best-value scenario.

  • Publication number: 20050114224
Abstract: Methods, systems, and products are disclosed for providing communications services. One method receives a bid for the communications services, and the bid is received during an online auction conducted via a distributed computing network. The communications services are provided, and a rating is received. The rating indicates whether the communications services were satisfactorily provided.

  • Publication number: 20050114155
Abstract: Methods, systems, and products are disclosed for providing communications services. One method receives a request for communications service. The request for communications service originates from a client communications device associated with a user, and the request for communications service communicates via a communications network to a service provider of that communications network. The service provider then permits the user to negotiate with other service providers of other communications networks to fulfill the request for communications service.

  • Publication number: 20050114156
Abstract: Methods, systems, and products are disclosed for providing communications services. One method receives a request for communications service. The request for communications service originates from a client communications device, and the request for communications service is communicated to a service provider of a communications network. A preferred scenario of segmentation, dispersion, and assemblage of electronic data is dynamically ascertained to fulfill the request. The method then bills for the communications service.

  • Publication number: 20050114542
Abstract: Methods, systems, and products are disclosed for providing communications services. One method discovers multiple communications networks available to a client communications device. A request for communications service is communicated from the client communications device to at least one service provider. The at least one service provider provides access to at least one of the multiple communications networks. Access to at least one of the multiple communications networks is negotiated with the at least one service provider. Communications service is then received from the at least one service provider via at least one of the multiple communications networks.

  • Publication number: 20050114432
Abstract: Methods, systems, and products are disclosed for providing communications services. One method receives a first data stream at a computer, and the first data stream includes packets of data packetized according to a packet protocol. The first data stream is segmented into segments, and the segments are dispersed via a network for subsequent processing services. Results of the subsequent processing services are received and aggregated into a second data stream. The second data stream is then communicated via the network to another destination, such as a client communications device.

  • Publication number: 20050032435
Abstract: Systems and methods for interfacing plain old telephone system (POTS) devices, cellular network devices, and computer network devices with computer networks and cellular networks is presented. In a broad sense, the system includes an interface that bridges the POTS devices and the cellular devices with computer networks. The interface also bridges computer network devices with the cellular network. The interface is configured to convert signals which are compatible with POTS networks and cellular networks into signals compatible with computer networks. The signals may include content signals representing a telephone call and call attribute signals used to establish a telephone call. The interface is further configured to convert computer network compatible signals into cellular network compatible signals. The interface may also be utilized to aggregate cellular and computer network signals for communicating segmented data over multiple networks.

  • Publication number: 20050025308
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for passing through features from alternative network devices, such as cellular telephones, to plain old telephone system (POTS) devices. In a broad sense, the system includes an interface that bridges the alternative network devices to the POTS devices. The interface is configured to convey feature data contained within signaling data generated by the alternative network devices and pass the feature data through to the connected POTS devices. If the feature data is incompatible with the connected POTS devices, the interface is further configured to determine a compatible protocol for the connected POTS devices and translate the feature data into the compatible protocol.

  • Publication number: 20050025305
Abstract: A system and method are presented for interfacing multiple plain old telephone system (POTS) devices with multiple cellular devices in communication with a cellular network to enable efficient communication among these devices. In a broad sense, the system includes an interface configured to function as a bridge between the POTS devices and the cellular devices. The interface selectively routes call attempts from a POTS device to one of a group of cellular devices which connect the calls from the POTS device over the cellular network. The interface may be configured to detect a key sequence for selecting a particular cellular device in the group during an outgoing call attempt from the POTS device. The interface then routes the outgoing call to the selected cellular device. The interface may also be configured to detect a telephone number entered into the POTS device during an outgoing call attempt and route the outgoing call to a particular cellular device based on criteria pre-programmed in the interface.

  • Publication number: 20050025299
Abstract: Systems and methods for restricting the use and movement of plain old telephone system (POTS) devices and cellular telephones are presented. In a broad sense, the system includes an interface configured to only allow telephone calls to a limited set of telephone numbers or area codes. The interface may be configured to detect a telephone number during a call attempt and compare the number to a stored sequence list of allowed telephone numbers or area codes. If the detected number matches one of the allowed telephone numbers or area codes, the call attempt is allowed to continue. However, if the detected number does not match a number in the stored sequence list, the call attempt is blocked by the interface. The interface may also be configured to restrict the movement of a cellular telephone based on received location data indicating a current position of the cellular telephone.
