Abstract: Customized transactional cards are created in one of various ways. The card holder may obtain a blank transactional card already having an encoded account number, create a customized design, and then apply the customized design to the blank transaction card such as by printing the design onto a label to be applied to the blank transactional card or directly onto the card. The card holder may obtain a blank transactional card which has not yet been authorized with an account number, create a customized design, apply the customized design to the transactional card, and at some point send the transactional card to the card issuer where it can be authorized by having an account number applied to it and then returned to the card holder. The card holder may access a web site to create a customized design and then the card issuer creates the transactional card according to the customized design and sends the transactional card having an encoded account number to the card holder.

A transactional card may include coatings or integrated materials that provide scents or that change color when heat is applied. A transactional card may include additional sensory features such as a lenticular array with underlying image.

Abstract: Methods for responding to a potential incident are provided in which data about the potential incident is received from a first remote sensing unit. Additional remote sensing units are identified that may have additional data about the potential incident, and additional data about the potential incident is received from at least some of these additional remote sensing units. The totality of the received data is then analyzed, and at least one remote entity is automatically notified regarding the occurrence of the potential incident.

Abstract: Methods, systems and computer program products for load routing across a plurality of networks are provided. A request to exchange communication data between a user endpoint device and a target device is received. At an application layer, a first portion of the communication data associated with the request is allocated for routing over a first network domain and a second portion of the communication data associated with the request is allocated for routing over a second network domain, administered independently from the first network domain, to provide an allocation of the communication data. The first portion is routed between the user endpoint device and the target device over a network access link coupled to the first network domain without notifying the first network domain of the allocation of the communication data.

Abstract: Traffic is controlled by sensing a current state of traffic and comparing it to a common state of traffic to determine deviations. A control scheme is determined based on the deviations, and control signals representative of the control scheme are generated to optimize the flow of traffic. The current state of traffic for an intersection or other advantageous monitoring location may be considered relative to a common state at the intersection or other location as well as relative to a current state of traffic at nearby locations, adjacent intersections, and locations where sensor equipped vehicles are traveling. Sensing occurs over time so the control scheme may be optimized based on consideration of historical data.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide systems and methods of location-based status checking. Such a method comprises scheduling an event to occur at a scheduled time at a defined location; inviting an individual to attend the event; querying the individual as to whether the individual will attend the event; and tracking a physical location of the individual to determine whether the individual is on schedule to appear at the event by the scheduled time. Abstract: One embodiment of the present is a method of using location history to optimize communications with perspective customers. Such a method comprises analyzing a user's location history over a period of time; detecting an indication of user interest in sellable items based on at least the location history; and sending a message to the user about a sellable item that is determined to be of interest to the user. Abstract: One embodiment of the present is a method of implementing privacy control of location information. Such a method comprises defining a geographic zone for which pseudo-location information is to be reported as the current location of the user, wherein the pseudo-location information is not the current location of the user; receiving the current location of the user; determining that the current location is in the geographic zone; and reporting the pseudo-location information as the current location of the user when the current location is determined to be in the geographic zone. Abstract: Methods, systems, and products are disclosed for processing responses in a prompting system. Responses are monitored to a menu of prompts in the prompting system. A response to a prompt is tagged with a location identifier. The location identifier identifies subject matter that corresponds to the prompt. The location identifier is stored in a database. If the menu of prompts changes, then the location identifier permits navigation to the same subject matter, even though the prompt is reassigned to new subject matter.

The method includes identifying sources of information topically related to an interest. The interest is specified as first information elements. The method also includes creating a search string from at least a portion of the first information elements. The method further includes gathering second information elements in response to searching the sources of information using the search string, and comparing the second information elements to the first information elements. The method further includes identifying matches between the first and second information elements, analyzing the matches, and determining a solution for satisfying the interest.

Abstract: Systems and methods for restricting the use and movement of telephone system devices are presented. The system includes an interface configured to allow telephone calls to a limited set of telephone numbers or area codes. The interface may be configured to detect a number during a call attempt and compare the number to a stored sequence list of allowed numbers. If the detected number matches one of the allowed numbers, the call attempt is allowed to continue. However, if the detected number does not match a number in the stored sequence list, the call attempt is blocked. The interface may also be configured to restrict the movement of a cellular telephone based on received location data, configured with a physical lock to prevent removal from a docking station, or configured to generate a locking signal inhibiting use of the telephone after it has been moved greater than the predetermined distance.

Abstract: An audio/video reproducing system is automatically electronically controlled in response to specific sensed sounds, specific sensed images and/or specific sensed patterns of nonvisible electromagnetic radiation that are identified electronically from a predefined set of specific sounds, a predefined set of specific images and/or a predefined set of electromagnetic radiation patterns. User preferences may be set to identify specific combinations of sensed patterns. The sensed patterns may be ambient sensed patterns and/or remote sensed patterns. Abstract: Methods, systems, computer program products, and devices distinguish audio alerts emitted from a device. A method involves relating an audio alert and distinctive data associated with an audio alert triggering event to the audio alert triggering event, detecting an occurrence of the audio alert triggering event, altering the audio alert with the distinctive data to generate an altered audio alert associated with the audio alert triggering event, and emitting the altered audio alert from the device in response to detecting the occurrence. The altered audio alert includes a unique instantiation aurally recognizable by a human as having a unique aural fingerprint. Relating the distinctive data may include relating a personal identifier of a person associated with the audio alert triggering event wherein the personal identifier can be, for example, a social security number, an employee identification number, an address, or a birth date.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer-readable media are provided for creating a collection of experience-related data from disparate information sources. In a communications device, a marker is received indicating an experienced event, the marker is annotated with the current state of environmental variables, data collected from disparate information sources which is related to the experienced event is saved, a description is provided for the saved event data. The saved event data may optionally be automatically sent to an aggregation source in a communications network for retrieval. If a change in the environmental variables is detected, the beginning of a new event is determined, data is saved related to the new event, and a description for the new event data is automatically provided.

Abstract: Systems and methods for restricting the use and movement of plain old telephone system (POTS) devices and cellular telephones are presented. In a broad sense, the system includes an interface configured to only allow telephone calls to a limited set of telephone numbers or area codes. The interface may be configured to detect a telephone number during a call attempt and compare the number to a stored sequence list of allowed telephone numbers or area codes. If the detected number matches one of the allowed telephone numbers or area codes, the call attempt is allowed to continue. However, if the detected number does not match a number in the stored sequence list, the call attempt is blocked by the interface. The interface may also be configured to restrict the movement of a cellular telephone based on received location data indicating a current position of the cellular telephone.
