  • Publication number: 20150035997
Abstract: Novel tools and techniques are provided for implementing video qualification, which might include implementing video quality measurements at a subscriber premises and qualification of the subscriber premises for particular levels of video data transmission. In some cases, one or more customer premises equipment might comprise video quality chips that might perform measurements of the telecommunications links, and might send the results to a server associated with the service provider. The server might determine available video services, based on the results of the measurements, and might send the subscriber notifications indicating that the subscribers qualify for particular video services. In some cases, implementing video qualification might include the server determining that video service levels provided to a customer premises has been decreased or otherwise negatively affected.

  • Publication number: 20150037709
Abstract: This invention is a metal fuel cell that consumes zinc, oxygen and water. The chemistry of this fuel cell fundamental differs from other previously described metal air fuel cells because water is consumed and zinc and hydroxide anions are adsorbed by the natural carbon compounds of coal, charcoal and biochar. The adsorption of these ions is possible because of the accessible micropore structure of the natural carbon substances. The absorption limits the rate of fuel cell waste thereby decreasing the rate of increase of the cells internal resistance and this chemistry accounts for the fuel cell's longevity. The cell is inexpensive to make and renewable and rechargeable. Development of this cell could have profound effects on environmental, economic and social problems related to global energy.

  • Publication number: 20150034445
Abstract: A wheel end of a vehicle includes a knuckle and a wheel and wheel hub rotatably mounted to the knuckle. A CV-joint is positioned adjacent to the wheel hub. A clutch ring is slidable between engagement with one of the wheel hub and the CV-joint or both. A pneumatic annular actuator is connected to a shift fork that is engaged with the clutch ring for movement of the clutch ring between engaged and dis-engaged. The shift fork includes a base portion and an L-shaped section. The L-shaped section includes a plurality of slots therein to allow the shift fork to deflect and pivot when a misalignment occurs between the teeth of the constant velocity joint half shaft and the clutch ring during assembly of the CV-joint to the wheel hub. The pneumatic actuator includes an elastomeric diaphragm wall that includes a compliant stop extending axially therefrom.

  • Publication number: 20150036494
Abstract: A reporting server receives reports on content items being accessed by a plurality of UE devices through a first multicast/broadcast single frequency network (MBSFN). The reporting server determines, for each content item being accessed, which of the UE devices is accessing the content item. The UE devices are then grouped by the accessed content items such that at least one content item is accessed by a first group of UE devices and not accessed by a second group of UE devices. The reporting server then sends data representing the first and second groups to a broadcast video provisioning system (BVPS) with a recommendation to split the MBSFN into second and third MBSFNs. In another implementation, the reporting server receives reports from fourth and fifth MBSFNs and recommends joining the fourth and fifth MBSFNs to form a sixth MBSFN if broadcast bandwidth requirements are met.

  • Publication number: 20150039501
Abstract: A supplier uses a Buyer-Initiated Payment (BIP) system, such as a Payer Direct Hub (PDH), to obtain a selected interchange rate to charge the supplier. The payer may use a Supplier-Initiated Payment (SIP) system or manual method to provide a commercial credit card number to a supplier. A supplier may log onto a BIP system and enter the number along with the payment amount. A BIP system determines whether the entered information includes the qualifying information to obtain the selected interchange rate for the supplier. The qualifying information for a selected interchange rate may include tax information or additional line item detail information. Substitute information to be used as the qualifying information needed for the selected interchange rate is retrieved. The BIP system combines the retrieved substitute information with the entered information and outputs credit card transaction information so that the supplier is paid using the selected interchange rate.
