  • Patent number: 9931739
Abstract: A screwdriver includes a main body and a switch. The main body is coupled to a handle and includes a pair of parallel, spaced apart slots, and a pawl positioned in each slot. Each pawl is biased outwardly by a spring. The switch is pivotable relative to the main body, and the switch includes a groove extending along an arcuate portion of an inner surface. Pivoting the switch in a first direction moves the switch toward a first position in which the groove is positioned in-line with the first pawl. When the switch is in the first position, the first pawl extends outwardly from the slot and engages the internal tooth surface such that application of a torque in a first direction drives a shank in the first direction and application of a torque in the second direction causes the shank to ratchet relative to the main body.

  • Publication number: 20180065404
Abstract: A chalk line device includes a housing, a spool, a chalk line, a hook, and a cap. The housing defines an outer surface and an internal chamber, and the housing includes an opening. The spool is supported in the internal chamber for rotation relative to the housing. The chalk line extends through the opening of the housing and the chalk line includes a first end and a second end. At least a portion of the chalk line is wrapped around the spool. The hook is secured to the first end of the chalk line and includes a tip adapted to engage a work piece. The cap is removably coupled to the housing to cover the opening. The cap includes a nozzle through which the chalk line extends and a projection for engaging and releasably securing the hook against the cap.

  • Patent number: 9885571
Abstract: A level is selectively coupled to a work piece and includes a housing, an adjustable clamping mechanism configured to selectively couple the housing to the work piece, a first bubble vial coupled to the housing and operable to indicate a first levelness of the work piece, and a second bubble vial rotatably coupled to the housing about a first axis. The second bubble vial is operable to indicate a second levelness of the work piece.

  • Publication number: 20180029201
Abstract: A tool accessory includes a first portion defining a drive end and a second portion defining a working end. At least one flat or planar side surface is defined on the first portion, and a tipping point is disposed between the first portion and the second portion. The tool accessory has a center of mass that is defined closer to the drive end than to the working end such that, when the tool accessory is rested on a surface, the center of mass causes the tool accessory to rest on the planar side surface and the tipping point to prevent rolling. The tool accessory may be included in a tool kit including a container and a tool including a handle and a tool head. The container includes a first portion having a first retainer that supports the tool, a second portion, and a middle portion that divides the first portion and the second portion. The middle portion includes a second retainer that supports the tool accessory.

  • Publication number: 20170239808
Abstract: Tool storage devices. A tool storage device may include a handle assembly including a support arm connected between a body and a handle portion and having a substantially rectangular cross section oriented with first walls extending transverse to the axis having a greater width than second walls extending parallel to the axis. A width of the handle portion may be at least about 50% of a width of the body. The body may include a frame assembly formed of a rigid material, a wall formed of a flexible material and at least partially defining the storage compartment with an open top, and a cover formed of a rigid material connected to the frame assembly to selectively close the open top. A wheel well portion receives each wheel and may cover the width of the wheel and a portion of the circumference of the wheel. A radial clearance between the wheel and a lower end of the wheel well may be no more than about 0.5 inches.

  • Publication number: 20170190039
Abstract: A stapler includes a main body having a front side and a bottom side extending from the front side. A staple discharge opening is defined on the bottom side proximate the front side. The stapler further includes a magazine movable between a received position within the main body and a withdrawn position, and a latch mechanism including an actuator movable between a latched position and an unlatched position. When the magazine is in the received position and the actuator is in the latched position the magazine is retained from movement toward the withdrawn position, and when the actuator is in the unlatched position the magazine is movable relative to the main body from the received position to the withdrawn position. The actuator is positioned within a recess defined by the main body when the magazine is in the received position.
