  • Patent number: 7111809
Abstract: Excessive fuel is dumped by ejection under a pressurized outflow velocity from an aircraft during flight as jets in a direction parallel to air stream flow relative to the aircraft, from a rearwardly facing exit opening of a fuel jettison device mounted on the lower surface of the aircraft, with the exit fixedly spaced below the lower aircraft surface a short distance to avoid the Coanda effect while reducing or eliminating fuel and fuel mist impingement on aircraft surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20060168500
Abstract: The invention relates to an error correcting decoder apparatus (100) and method. The decoder apparatus (100) comprises a likelihood estimator (101) which generates a sequence of bit value likelihood estimates, such as log likelihood ratios, for multi bit symbols of a data sequence. The decoder apparatus (100) further comprises a decoder element (103), such as a Maximum A Priori (MAP) or appropriate Soft Output Viterbi decoder. The decoder element (103) generates a decoded data sequence in response to the bit value likelihood estimates. The decoder apparatus (100) also comprises a weighted processor (105) which generates a weighted compensation data sequence from the decoded data sequence. The weighted compensation data is used to modify the sequence of bit value likelihood estimates. The decoding is subsequently repeated using the improved bit value likelihood estimates whereby improved decoding performance is achieved.

  • Publication number: 20060133916
Abstract: A fully collapsible lightweight mount to support a cargo loading apparatus. The mount has releasably attached horizontal and vertical arms, with a bracket to adjustably attach a cargo loading device on the vertical arm. In one embodiment, the horizontal arms have brackets configured to attach to “stake holes” in the standard side walls of a pickup truck cargo bed. The vertical arm of the device may be further supported against for example, a cargo bed rear wall or floor by a floor brace. Alternatively horizontal arm may attach to a pickup truck trailer hitch by additional mounts and connecting arm components suitable for attachment to a class 3 trailer hitch. The component parts can be readily assembled and disassembled, are lightweight, and occupy little space. The disassembled device can be stored in a carrying bag in the cab or other compartment of a vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20060098758
Abstract: A system and method for controlling the gain in the forward signal path of a digital predistortion linearizer is disclosed. The loop gain of the predistortion system is driven to unity, where a separately controlled constant-gain observation path allows accurate gain control of the forward path. This is divided into digital gain from the predistortion function and analog gain from a Voltage Variable Attenuator (VVA) in the transmitter. The invention balances the distribution between these two domains in order to maximize dynamic range and minimize noise in the forward signal path. In order to distribute the forward path gain accurately, the characteristic of the VVA must be well known. Since these devices tend to be non-linear, with variable characteristic over temperature and batch, the invention compensates for this non-linear behavior by tracking the varying transfer characteristic of the VVA, giving a predictable local characteristic.

  • Patent number: 7020250
Abstract: A system and method for receiving information regarding a telephony platform and for retrieving the object of the services provided by the telephony platform corresponding to the information received. Customer premises equipment is connected to the general switched telephone network and to a supplemental service network via a central office switch. A telephony platform is connected to the general switched telephone network for providing accessory services such as voice mail, electronic mail and facsimile services. An event identifier is generated to identify a calling event. The event identifier may be attached to a message having caller identifier information. The event identifier is used if the caller is transferred to voice mail. If a voice mail message is left, an in formation indicator is attached to another caller identifier message that is maintained for display on the customer premises equipment to allow the user to determine which callers left messages.

  • Publication number: 20060008030
Abstract: A system and method for compensating for the time delay between the in-phase I and the quadrature Q paths of a digitally modulated transmitter incorporating an analog quadrature modulator is disclosed. The time delay between the in-phase I and the quadrature Q paths is computed and used to calibrate a set of interpolation filters in the forward path that compensate for this delay, reducing the frequency dependent degradation in performance of the analog quadrature modulator. The disclosed system and method provides improved compensation of gain, phase and DC offsets in the analog quadrature modulator over a broader bandwidth. Fractional delay interpolation filters may be used to estimate the delay between the in-phase and quadrature paths. This eliminates the need for a factory calibration procedure, speeding up manufacture and reducing costs.

  • Publication number: 20060008026
Abstract: A system and method for rapidly correcting the time difference between two signals is disclosed. In particular, a system and method for very rapidly correcting timing errors to the very high degree of accuracy required for digital predistortion adaptation is disclosed. The method is a signal processing technique, which can be performed in either hardware or software, which employs a correlation computation. The correlation results are processed in a manner that enables very rapid and accurate estimation of the time difference between the two signals.

  • Publication number: 20050285445
Abstract: A method and system for managing a battery system for a vehicle utilizes a hierarchy to disconnect electrical loads from the battery system. One embodiment of the method includes receiving an input signal representative of a condition of one of the components of one of the systems provided in a vehicle. The method also includes comparing the input signal with at least one parameter to determine whether the condition indicates that at least one of the plurality of electrical loads should be disconnected from the battery. The method also includes disconnecting at least one of the plurality of electrical loads from the at least one battery according to a predetermined hierarchy if the input signal when compared to the parameter indicates that at least one of the plurality of electrical loads should be disconnected from the at least one battery.

  • Publication number: 20050203567
Abstract: Filters and method of manufacturing filters are disclosed herein. The filter has a substantially sack-like shape having a closed distal end and an open proximal end. The filter can be constructed from thin film. The filter material can be an organic or inorganic polymer. In one embodiment, the filter material is a polyurethane film having a thickness of les than 25 ?m. The filter can be constructed from one or more sections of filter material. In the two-section embodiment, the outer edges of the first and second sections are overlapped and bonded using solvent, heat or other bonding process. In the single-section embodiment, the outer edges of the first section are overlapped and bonded using bonding agents, such as solvent or adhesive, heat or other bonding process. Filters of the present invention have a reduced amount of hysteresis so as to reform to its original shape when deployed.

  • Patent number: 6928153
Abstract: A method and system enable the automatic generation of a call processing control record. A user creates a schedule entry comprising a plurality of data entries on an electronic scheduler. The data entries are transmitted from the electronic scheduler to a call processing control record generator. The data entries are compared with stored data. In response to the data entries, the call processing control record generator generates a call processing control record which can be stored in a call processing control record database. The call processing control record can be used to forward calls or transmit an announcement to the calling party.
