  • Patent number: 9140081
Abstract: A system for circumferentially aligning a downhole latch subsystem in a wellbore. The system includes an outer tool assembly including a latch coupling having a latch profile and a slot subassembly having an axially extending slot profile. An inner tool assembly is positionable within the outer tool assembly. The inner tool assembly includes a latch assembly having a plurality of latch keys and an orienting subassembly having a plurality orienting keys. In operation, after axial alignment of the orienting subassembly with the slot subassembly, rotation of the orienting subassembly causes operable engagement of at least one orienting key with the slot profile and, thereafter, axial alignment of the latch assembly with the latch coupling causes operable engagement of the latch keys with the latch profile.

  • Publication number: 20140161566
Abstract: A method for manufacture of a metal can body is described in which two or more stretching operations are used so as to reduce the thickness of the central part of a cup base, prior to drawing the cup sidewall and forming a can body. By using two or more stretching operations, it has been found possible to control the thickness of the base without significantly reducing pressure performance of the finished can. Alternative embodiments of apparatus comprising tooling for carrying out this method are also described.

  • Patent number: 8505621
Abstract: Assemblies can be disposed in a subterranean bore. An assembly can include a recessed portion in an inner wall and another recessed portion in an outer wall. The recessed portions can each be configured to have a cross-sectional thickness that is less than at least another part of the assembly. The assembly can provide a seal between an inner region defined by the assembly and an environment exterior to the assembly prior to a window being created in the recessed portion in the outer wall through which a branch wellbore can be formed. The recessed portion in the inner wall can guide a cutting tool toward the recessed portion in the outer wall.

  • Publication number: 20120274604
Abstract: There is disclosed a capacitive touch pad or device (10) which includes a substrate (12) and a plurality of capacilive pads (18) at an inner surface (16) of the substrate (12). Each pad (18) is provided with a local oscillator (22), the oscillation frequency of which varies with the capacitance of the capacitive pad (18). A micro controller (26) is operable to sense the oscillation frequency of the oscillators (22). In order to be usable in humid and wet environments, the microcontroller (26)operates on the basis of a time averaged signal from each of the oscillators (22) and compares this to a threshold, which threshold in the preferred embodiment is variable, for instance by time-averaging. The oscillators (22) is preferably close to the capacitive pads (18) in order to allow the use of a thicker substrate (12) and in the preferred embodiment a substrate which is waterproof. These arrangements provide a capacitive touch sensor device which can be used in humid or wet conditions.
