  • Patent number: 9951573
Abstract: A method includes conveying a whipstock and a latch anchor into a parent wellbore, the latch anchor being attached to the whipstock at a releasable connection and the parent wellbore being lined with casing that includes a latch coupling. The latch anchor is secured to the latch coupling and the whipstock is then separated from the latch anchor at the releasable connection and thereby exposing a portion of the releasable connection. The whipstock is then removed from the parent wellbore and a completion deflector is subsequently conveyed into the parent wellbore in combination with lateral tubing (with or without a multilateral junction positioned thereabove), and the completion deflector is attached to the latch coupling at the releasable connection. The lateral tubing (with or without multilateral junction positioned thereabove) is then installed to correct depth.

  • Publication number: 20180099735
Abstract: An aircraft wing having a fixed wing with a wing tip device. The wing tip device is movable between a flight configuration for use during flight, and a ground configuration for use during ground-based operations. The wing has a master flight control surface associated with the fixed wing and a slave flight control surface associated with the wing tip device. An interface between the master flight control surface and the slave flight control surface is arranged to provide a rigid connection between the master flight control surface and slave flight control surface when the wing tip device is in the flight configuration. Moving the master control surface about a control axis causes the slave control surface to be moved about the control axis. The interface is arranged to de-couple the slave and master control surfaces when the wing tip device is moved from the flight configuration into the ground configuration.

  • Patent number: 9849500
Abstract: A method for manufacture of a metal can body is described in which two or more stretching operations are used so as to reduce the thickness of the central part of a cup base, prior to drawing the cup sidewall and forming a can body. By using two or more stretching operations, it has been found possible to control the thickness of the base without significantly reducing pressure performance of the finished can. Alternative embodiments of apparatus comprising tooling for carrying out this method are also described.

  • Patent number: 9677366
Abstract: A system and method for milling a casing in a wellbore wherein an upper milling portion of a milling system engages a track of a lower guide system of the milling system in order to orient the upper milling portion. The upper milling portion moves along a track from a first position to a second position, where the the upper milling portion is securedly affixed to the lower guide portion. A traveling guide arm is used to move the milling portion along a travel path. A piston on the traveling guide arm is disposed between first and second fluid chambers, with a throughbore in the piston forming a fluid path between the two chambers. An adjustable valve in the throughbore is controlled by a proximity sensor to alter the flow of fluid between the chambers. The sensor monitors the distance between a fixed and moving point of the milling system.

  • Publication number: 20170064562
Abstract: Some methods enable a computer to receive location information from a device and determine a coverage region for the device. The device's coverage region is the area within range of a wireless signal coming from the device. The computer can determine that part of the device's coverage region covers part of a specified region and instruct the device to provide wireless access to a network associated with the first region.

  • Publication number: 20170029089
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a foldable aerodynamic structure, such as a wing, for an aircraft. The wing (1) including an inner region (1) and an outer region (3) rotatable relative to the inner region between a flight configuration and a ground configuration. The method includes designing the foldable aerodynamic structure by determining the location and orientation of an Euler axis of rotation (11) about which the outer region rotates to achieve the ground configuration and determining a cut plane (13), perpendicular to that Euler axis, separating the inner and outer regions; and iteratively repeating this process until a preferred cut plane (13) is obtained that satisfies at least one design criteria.
