Publication number: 20200290750Abstract: A monitoring system and method are provided for real time monitoring of flaps, landing gears, or tail skids to determine safe taxi, takeoff, and flight readiness. Monitoring units, including scanning LiDAR devices combined with cameras or sensors, mounted in aircraft exterior locations produce a stream of meshed data that is securely transmitted to a processing system to generate a real time visual display of the flaps, landing gears, or tail skid for communication to aircraft pilots to ensure safe aircraft taxi, takeoff, and flight readiness. Actual flap position alignment with optimal flap setting, proper retraction and extension positions of landing gears, and tail skid condition is ensured. Safety of aircraft taxi, takeoff and flight and airport operations are improved when the present system and method are used to prevent incidents related to misaligned flaps and improperly positioned landing gears or tail skids.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 11, 2020Publication date: September 17, 2020Applicant: Borealis Technical LimitedInventors: Stuart Mark Ferrell, William T. Publication number: 20190391878Abstract: The Source Volume Backup with Adaptive Finalization Apparatuses, Methods and Systems (“SVBAF”) transforms backup request inputs via SVBAF components into backup response outputs. A set of blocks to be copied from a source volume to a target volume is designated and copied while an operating system is configured to write to the source volume. Blocks of the source volume that were written to by the operating system while the operating system was configured to write to the source volume are identified Finalization settings are analyzed to determine whether to enter a CoW mode. If the CoW mode should not be entered, the designated set of blocks is changed to include at least one of the identified blocks and a pass is repeated. Otherwise, the operating system is instructed to enter the CoW mode and bring the target volume into a state consistent with a state of the source volume.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 22, 2019Publication date: December 26, 2019Inventors: Stuart Mark, Charles John Barrett, Faury Francisco Rodriguez, William Robert Speirs, II, Robert J. Gibbons, JR.

Publication number: 20190283438Abstract: The invention provides a method of adding solvent or make-up fluid into the gutter line of a continuous ink printer. During the addition of solvent, the vacuum level in the gutter line is monitored and maintained at a level sufficient to ensure that vacuum is maintained at the gutter. Vacuum level in the gutter line is preferably controlled by controlling the speed of a variable speed gutter pump. Noise in the gutter line is preferably used as a control over pump speed.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 13, 2017Publication date: September 19, 2019Inventors: Stuart Mark Walkington, Richard Thomas Calhoun Bridges, Colin Jon Partridge, Justin Chase

Publication number: 20190250995Abstract: The Source Volume Backup with Predictive and Lookahead Optimizations Apparatuses, Methods and Systems (“SVBAF”) transforms backup request inputs via SVBAF components into backup response outputs. A set of blocks to be copied from a source volume to a target volume is designated based on predictive optimization settings and copied based on lookahead optimization settings while an operating system is configured to write to the source volume. Blocks of the source volume that were written to by the operating system are identified. A determination is made whether to enter a CoW mode. If the CoW mode should not be entered, the designated set of blocks is changed to include at least one of the identified blocks and a pass is repeated. Otherwise, the operating system is instructed to enter the CoW mode and bring the target volume into a state consistent with a state of the source volume.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 22, 2019Publication date: August 15, 2019Inventors: Stuart Mark, William Robert Speirs, II, Robert Loce, Robert J. Publication number: 20190042373Abstract: The present disclosure is directed at systems and methods for copying a source volume to a target volume. The disclosed systems/methods facilitate copying the source volume to the target volume while an operating system is configured to write to the source volume, while ensuring that the resulting copy in the target volume represents a crash-consistent state of the source volume at a single point in time. According to some embodiments, the disclosed systems and methods reduce the amount of time that the operating system writing to the source volume spends in copy-on-write mode. The disclosed systems/methods can decrease the performance burden on the operating system (e.g., free up processing resources at the operating system for other tasks), while also decreasing the amount of memory required for the copying process.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 6, 2018Publication date: February 7, 2019Inventor: Stuart MARK

Patent number: 9339964Abstract: A method of extruding products comprises varying the rate of flow of at least one material (12) through an extrusion aperture in a die (10). The method may be used to produce an extrudate body (16) whose cross-sectional area varies along its length or to produce an extrudate body comprising two or more different materials in which the proportions of the materials varies along its length. Apparatus (11) for carrying out the method comprises an extrusion die (10) defining an extrusion aperture and a material delivery system for delivering the material(s) to the die in a suitable condition for extrusion. A control system is operative to vary the rate of flow of the material. The control system may comprise a flow control mechanism (240) in a supply path for the first material upstream from the die (10). The flow control mechanism (240) may be operative to vary the volume of the supply path and may comprise a fluid actuated resiliently deformable flexible element.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 2011Date of Patent: May 17, 2016Assignee: Cadbury UK LimitedInventors: Roderick Andrew Haines, Stuart Mark Banister, Finbarr Charles Ronald Williamson, Simon Philip Jelley, Andrew Christopher Bufton, Gavin Bown

Patent number: 9067349Abstract: A method of manufacturing products comprising an outer casing of a first material (12) and containing at least one chamber (18) filled with a second material (14) comprises extruding the first material through a die (10) to form an extrudate body (16) and delivering the second material through at least one fluid outlet (22) in the die to form the least one filled chamber. The extrusion process is varied periodically and momentarily to produce sections (30) of extrudate body having no filled chamber. In one embodiment, the flow of the second material (14) is periodically reduced to form the unfilled sections. The flow of the second material (14) may be reduced by increasing the volume of a supply path for the second material upstream from the die (10). Apparatus for carrying out the method is also disclosed. The method and apparatus are particularly adapted for producing food, and especially confectionery, products.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 2011Date of Patent: June 30, 2015Assignee: Intercontinental Great Brands LLCInventors: Roderick Andrew Haines, Stuart Mark Banister, Finbarr Charles Ronald Williamson, Simon Philip Jelley, Andrew Christopher Bufton, Gavin Bown
