  • Publication number: 20200090117
Abstract: Example delivery systems and methods are described. In one implementation, a method identifies multiple items for delivery to a vehicle and determines whether any of the items are temperature-sensitive. If any of the items are temperature-sensitive, the method determines whether the vehicle has a variable-temperature compartment to receive the temperature-sensitive items. If the vehicle has a variable-temperature compartment, the vehicle is notified of an estimated delivery time for the temperature-sensitive items.

  • Publication number: 20200039551
Abstract: A dolly includes an actuated platform and obstruction sensor as well as a camera and a depth sensor. The eye height of a user is determined according to outputs of the camera and depth sensor. The platform is then moved to an elbow height determined based on the eye height and the depth sensor is moved to a position above the platform. In response to detecting obstruction of the obstruction sensor, the platform is lowered. Upon completion of loading, the platform is lowered to a lowest position. A stand may be retracted upon lowering of the platform to its lowest position.

  • Publication number: 20190383621
Abstract: A provider, such as a transportation management service, can manage transport for a number of riders between various locations. Individual routes can include at least two segments using the same or different modes of transportation. A customer can select a transportation option for the journey that causes reservations to be made for the various segments. Upon completion of a journey, a customer can be prompted to provide feedback. This can include feedback for the individual segments, in addition to the overall multi-segment journey. The feedback can be allocated across aspects or components of the various segments, and aggregated with feedback from other users in order to generate performance data for the various segments, routes, aspects, and components used to provide the various transportation or mobility options. This information can be utilized in making routing determinations for future transportation requests, and can be exposed to the various transportation providers.

  • Publication number: 20190383623
Abstract: A provider, such as a transportation management service, can manage transport for a number of riders between various locations. Routes can include at least two segments using the same or different modes of transportation. A customer can select a transportation option for an initial segment, without having to commit to options for other segments of the route. Transportation for those subsequent segments can be automatically booked or suggested at, or during, a time for the journey, such as during travel for the initial segment of the journey. A transportation service can receive confirmation that the rider is on a particular vehicle, determine the estimated time and location of arrival, and determine routing options for the next segment. The service can then automatically book the best option for the rider, or can suggest one or more options for selection or confirmation by the rider.

  • Publication number: 20190383622
Abstract: A provider, such as a transportation management service, can manage transport for a number of riders between various locations. Individual routes can include at least two segments using the same or different modes of transportation. A customer can select a transportation option for the journey that causes reservations to be made for the various segments. It might subsequently be determined that the customer will be unable to make a connection for at least one of the segments. Using information such as an estimated time of arrival of the current segment, the customer can be rebooked on an alternate transportation option that will enable the customer to be transported to the target destination according to the criteria for the journey. Segments can be rebooked for other reasons as well, such as where a better segment option becomes available or is discovered.

  • Publication number: 20190279180
Abstract: A multi-modal transportation system detects presence of a user passing through a multimodal transportation system. User presence may be detected from transaction information, detection of a card or other tag, detection of a the user's mobile device by active or passive beacons, Wi-Fi usage, or other sources. Speed and continued presence of the mobile device in a vehicle may be evaluated to determine usage of a transportation mode. Electronic payment from a user may be invoked based on detected usage. Usage of multiple modes may be combined to define a journey of the user. Transportation usage may also be collected and used by administrators of the multimodal transportation system.
