  • Patent number: 6972422
Abstract: Particles in a glass substrate are measured by executing following steps: sequentially conveying a plurality of glass substrates; scanning with a camera a unit area of a glass substrate in a direction of a travel path of the glass substrate and storing particle information thereof; shifting the camera to a position corresponding to a next unit area for a succeeding glass substrate; storing information on the particles in the unit area of the succeeding glass substrate obtained by scanning the glass substrate; estimating whether a sum of the respective scanned unit areas is within an allowed limit of an area of a glass substrate; and returning to the third step if an answer from the fifth step is “No” or storing information on the particles in the entire glass substrate if the answer is “Yes”.

  • Publication number: 20030174057
Abstract: A firearm detection system for inspecting whether a person passing through a gate positioned near a metal door is carrying a firearm is disclosed. The system comprises a door fixing device; a first sensor mounted on a doorframe to detect the entrance of a person into the door; a second sensor mounted on an entrance side of the gate to detect the entrance of the person into the gate; a third sensor mounted on an exit side of the gate to detect the exit of the person from the gate; and a microcomputer for controlling the operation of the door fixing device based on the detection results by the three sensors. The efficiency in use is maximized because a door fixing device operates to stop the movement of a door during the inspection procedure so as to prevent the generation of an electromagnetic field by the movement of the door made of similar material to the firearm, thereby preventing a false alarm signal from being generated by the movement of the door when a person carrying no firearm enters the gate.

  • Patent number: 6162644
Abstract: A method for and an apparatus for controlling and optimizing a xylene isomer separation and isomerization process, in which near infrared light of a wavelength ranging from 1,100 nm to 2,500 nm is transmitted through samples obtained at different stages of the process from raw materials flowing in the process by use of an analyzer system using optical fibers, thereby simultaneously measuring, in an on-line manner, xylene isomers and aromatic hydrocarbons containing 6 to 9 carbon atoms from those samples. Accordingly, it is possible to monitor the entire operation state of the process within 15 minutes in an on-line manner. Conventionally, 2 to 3 days are taken for the same monitoring.

  • Patent number: 4926465
Abstract: There is disclosed a method capable of indicating a communicating duration on a displaying means (LCD) of a key-phone upon a communication via the public telephone office line in a key-phone system. The method includes the steps of: a first process for driving a communicating duration starting timer and informing that communication is started; second process for initializing a buffer storing a communicating duration and driving the communicating duration increasing timer; third proces for driving said communicating duration increasing timer and then checking if it is in a state of a public telephone office line reserving, and terminating in a state of accumuating the communicating duration to a buffer; fourth process for producing present communicating duration data and transmitting the data to a key-phone; and fifth process for increasing a count value of communicating duration storing buffer, driving the communication increasing timer, and advancing to said third process.
