  • Patent number: 9596575
Abstract: Embodiments are provided for calibration, preprocessing, and segmentation for user localization and network traffic density estimation. The embodiments include sending, from a network component, a request to a plurality of user equipment (UEs) to participate in reporting localization data. Reports for localization data including no-lock reports are received from at least some of the UEs. The no-lock reports indicate indoor UEs among the UEs. The network preprocesses the localization data by eliminating, from the localization data, data that increases the total noise to signal ratio. The localization data is then processed using a model that distinguishes between different buildings. This includes associating, according to a radio map, radio characteristics in the localization data with corresponding bins in a non-uniform grid of coverage. The non-uniform grid is predetermined to maximize uniqueness between the radio characteristics.

  • Patent number: 9522426
Abstract: Scanning Laser Epitaxy (SLE) is a layer-by-layer additive manufacturing process that allows for the fabrication of three-dimensional objects with specified microstructure through the controlled melting and re-solidification of a metal powders placed atop a base substrate. SLE can be used to repair single crystal (SX) turbine airfoils, for example, as well as the manufacture functionally graded turbine components. The SLE process is capable of creating equiaxed, directionally solidified, and SX structures. Real-time feedback control schemes based upon an offline model can be used both to create specified defect free microstructures and to improve the repeatability of the process. Control schemes can be used based upon temperature data feedback provided at high frame rate by a thermal imaging camera as well as a melt-pool viewing video microscope. A real-time control scheme can deliver the capability of creating engine ready net shape turbine components from raw powder material.

  • Publication number: 20160110599
Abstract: Systems and methods classify unknown documents in a group or not with reference document(s). Documents get scanned into digital images. Applying edge detection allows the detection of contours defining pluralities of image objects. The contours are approximated to a nearest polygon. Prominent objects get extracted from the polygons and derive a collection of features that together identify the reference document(s). Comparing the collection of features to those of an unknown image determine or not inclusion of the unknown with the reference(s). Embodiments typify collections of features, classification acceptance or not, application of algorithms, and imaging devices with scanners, to name a few.

  • Patent number: 8989799
Abstract: Methods of reverse link power control are provided. In one example embodiment, a signal-to-interference+noise (SINR) is measured for a plurality of mobile stations. A power control adjustment is determined for each of the mobile stations based on the measured SINR for the mobile station and a fixed target SINR, the fixed target SINR being used in the determining step for each mobile station and sending the power control adjustments to the mobile stations. In another example embodiment, one or more signals are transmitted to a base station. A power control adjustment indicator indicating an adjustment to a transmission power level is received. The received power control adjustment is determined based on a measured signal-to-interference+noise ratio (SINR) for the one or more transmitted signals and a fixed target SINR threshold, the fixed target SINR threshold being used for power control adjustment of a plurality of mobile stations.
