  • Publication number: 20040263449
Abstract: A driving apparatus and apparatus for a liquid crystal display wherein an image format of an NTSC image signal can be selectively converted in response to an instruction of a user. In the apparatus, a liquid crystal display panel has liquid crystal cells arranged at intersections between gate lines and data lines to display an image signal in an image format different from an input image signal. A switch generates a pulse signal by an operation of a user. A counter counts said pulse signal. A timing controller changes an image format of said image signal displayed on the liquid crystal display panel in response to an input signal from the counter.

  • Publication number: 20040263454
Abstract: A driving apparatus for a liquid crystal display that reduces a residual direct current component from flowing in a liquid crystal is disclosed. In the apparatus, a liquid crystal display panel has liquid crystal cells at crossing of gate lines and data lines. An image signal processor separates a television image signal from a complex image signal and converts a polarity of the television image signal in response to a polarity inversion signal. A timing controller generates the gate control signal for time-dividing the plurality of gate lines to sequentially drive them during one horizontal period and driving the gate lines during one horizontal period and then applying it to the gate driver, and that generates the polarity inversion signal inverted for each one horizontal period and then applying it to the image signal processor.

  • Publication number: 20040257321
Abstract: A driving apparatus for a liquid crystal display capable of adjusting a field area displayed on a liquid crystal display panel at the exterior thereof is disclosed. In the apparatus, an image signal processor separates a television image signal from a complex image signal and separates a complex synchronizing signal. A liquid crystal display panel displays the television image signal. A timing controller generates a source start pulse determining a display start time of the television image signal displayed on the liquid crystal display panel using an internal clock signal and the complex synchronizing signal from the image signal processor. A delay circuit delays the internal clock signal to apply it to the timing controller.

  • Publication number: 20040150601
Abstract: A driving method and device for displaying a video signal of a normal mode having an aspect ratio of 4 to 3 in a wide mode LCD device having an aspect ratio of 16 to 9 are provided. The method includes the steps of outputting a source start pulse (SSP) signal; latching pixel data for a black display by using a main clock signal having a short period synchronized to the SSP signal; first skipping data latch during a first transition period of the video signal; latching pixel data corresponding to a normal mode by using a clock signal having a long period, and outputting the latched pixel data; and second skipping data latch during a second transition period of the video signal.
