Abstract: The current invention provides a mobile terminal. The mobile terminal includes a wireless communication unit for scanning channel frequencies for at least one broadcast signal, a controller for processing channel information for the at least one broadcast signal, and controlling the display of a scan result of the wireless communication unit, and an output unit for displaying the channel information of the at least one broadcast signal under control of the controller.

Abstract: A mobile communication terminal having QWERTY keys and a method for outputting Dual Tone Multi-Frequency (DTMF) signals thereof are disclosed. The user inputs information including alphabetic characters that is requested by a directory system, while viewing the alphabetic characters marked on the QWERTY keys. The mobile communication terminal outputs DTMF signals of symbols marked on the input QWERTY keys identical to the DTMF signals of the corresponding symbols of keys arrayed in a conventional 3×4 key array format. The alphabetic keys of the QWERTY keys output DTMF signals identical to those of the keys of the 3×4 array format in an alphabet input mode. Therefore, the user can easily input information requested by the directory system while viewing the symbols marked on the QWERTY keys, without requiring the user to memorize the array of alphabetic characters of the 3×4 key array format.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for managing an address book in a portable wireless terminal, allowing users to easily input private information into the apparatus. The apparatus includes an RFID recognition section for receiving information transmitted from an RFID chip after transmission of an electric wave, storing and reading received information, and converting read data into data suitable for an address book; a display section for displaying data for the address book management; a user command input section for inputting a command for the address book management by a user; an address book storage section for storing private information; and a control section for controlling an operation of the RFID recognition section, so as to transmit the converted data to the address book storage section according to a user command, thereby storing the data.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for notifying a departure time using schedule information for providing accurate prediction of a departure time for user's convenience is disclosed. The method includes registering a schedule including route setup information such as an origin, a destination, and a desired arrival time; receiving real time traffic data; setting a route from the origin to the destination; calculating a required driving duration time for the route; determining a departure time by using the desired arrival time and the required driving duration time; updating the departure time by recalculating the required driving duration time for the route in advance of the departure time; and notifying the departure time at the departure time. The apparatus includes a schedule storage unit, a real time traffic data receiver, a control unit, and an alarm generator.

Abstract: A method for providing traffic information includes registering a schedule containing the request details of a request for traffic information, receiving real-time traffic data for a time duration in advance of a traffic information provision time, and creating traffic information using the real-time traffic data at the traffic information provision time, and providing the traffic information. A related apparatus is also provided. The traffic information providing method and apparatus reduces an initial waiting duration for the provision of real-time traffic information.

Abstract: A control command transmission apparatus for controlling devices in a home network system environment is disclosed. A control command transmission apparatus includes a key input unit for inputting a user's operation signal to control corresponding electronic devices connected to the home network system; a sensor for detecting the user's motion applied to the control command transmission apparatus to control the electronic devices; a location identification unit for identifying the location of the control command transmission apparatus of the home network system; a command generator for generating a command corresponding to the motion detected by the sensor; and an interface for communicating with a home server to which the electronic devices are connected, and for transmitting the command generated by the command generator to the home server. Accordingly, the present invention provides convenient use of electronic devices connected to a home network system.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for broadcast data transmission and a method thereof A method for transmission of broadcast data includes a plurality of information that includes setting up a transmission period by information/time slot for each of the plurality of information; receiving information transmitted from outside information providing servers; storing the received information; generating broadcast data including the stored information based on the transmission period by information/time slot in every transmission period of broadcast data; and broadcasting the generated broadcast data.

Abstract: A traffic information providing method and apparatus. The traffic information providing a method and apparatus provides for collecting real-time traffic information and supplementary information; broadcasting the collected real-time traffic information; storing the collected supplementary information in a supplementary information database; receiving a supplementary information request from a user who confirms the broadcast real-time traffic information; searching supplementary information corresponding to the received supplementary information request; and delivering the searched supplementary information to the user. In accordance with user requests, traffic information services differentiated among the users can be delivered. A benefit can also be realized among traffic information service providers, mobile network operators and the users.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a traffic information providing apparatus and an operating method. The method includes receiving real time traffic information, storing sectional traffic information, dividing screen information currently displayed on the display unit into unit areas, selecting the unit areas sequentially, detecting additional traffic information on the corresponding unit areas from the sectional traffic information stored in the step of storing according to information on the selection, and displaying the additional traffic information. Accordingly, the present invention aims to decrease the danger of traffic accidents and provides convenient selection of search location for real time traffic information to a user.

Abstract: Provided is an apparatus and method for switching a navigation mode between a vehicle navigation mode and a personal navigation mode in a navigation device supporting vehicle navigation and personal navigation. Switching between the vehicle navigation mode and the personal navigation mode is performed according to whether the navigation device is mounted in a navigation device holder, whether a GPS speed provided by a GPS receiver is higher than a predetermined speed, and whether a step is detected using an output of an accelerometer. Since mode switching between the vehicle navigation mode and the personal navigation mode is automatically performed, a user does not need to manually perform mode switching.

Abstract: A function for identifying a current position of a user and providing information about a route to a desired destination is implemented. A mobile communication terminal with a navigation system accurately determines an initial position using a global positioning system (GPS) satellite constellation and a GPS signal intensity and provides a personal navigation service with an improved accuracy.

Abstract: Disclosed are a method and a system for integrating schedule management and broadcast program reservation in a digital broadcasting hybrid terminal having functions of personal schedule management and broadcast program reservation. When a user inputs a schedule or a broadcast program reservation, all stored registrations are searched to inform the user of any conflicts with the inputted schedule or broadcast program reservation.

Abstract: A digital broadcast system and method including a user input unit, a digital broadcast signal receiver for receiving a digital broadcast signal including location information, a location information detector for detecting the location information from the receiver, and an output unit for outputting the received signal. The location information is used to provide various location-related services to the user. If the user requests route guidance to a specific place appearing in the broadcast scene, the user can receive route guidance to the specific place. When a place, details of which the user desires to know, appears in a scene of a digital broadcast that the user is watching through the digital broadcast receiver, the user can confirm the details of the place using the location information included in the received signal.

Abstract: An emergency call system and a control method thereof are provided for notifying a third party of an emergency situation using a mobile communication terminal. The emergency call system includes a calling terminal, a base station (BS), and a management server. When recognizing the emergency situation of a registered subscriber, the management server notifies an emergency reception center of the emergency situation. The calling terminal generates and transmits first and second emergency messages. The first emergency message includes an emergency notification message, a phone number of at least one called terminal (recipient), and BS identification information, and the second emergency message includes the emergency notification message and the subscriber's phone number. The BS receives the first and second emergency messages, and transfers the received first and second emergency messages to the management server and the at least one called terminal.
