Patent number: 5272808Abstract: A cylinder head gasket prepared by a method of the invention is installed between a cylinder head and a cylinder block. In the method, a plate is prepared at first to have at least one hole smaller than a hole of the engine to be sealed. The first plate is bent around the first hole so that the first plate is provided with a curved portion defining a hole corresponding to the hole of the engine, a flange extending away from the curved portion, and a space around the curved portion. The curved portion is compressed to eliminate the space to thereby form a solid portion by the flange and an annular portion. A second plate having a hole larger than the flange is prepared and is assembled with the first plate. The second plate is located at a side opposite to the flange of the first plate. The second plate does not laminate the flange of the first plate.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 1991Date of Patent: December 28, 1993Assignee: Ishikawa Gasket Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tsunekazu Udagawa, Susumu Inamura

Patent number: 5269541Abstract: A gasket of the invention is installed between two engine parts of an internal combustion engine. The gasket may be formed of one metal plate including at least one first hole, at least one sealing device formed around the first hole, and a plurality of bolt holes for attaching the gasket to the engine. The metal plate further includes at least one second hole situated adjacent to the first hole between the two bolt holes, and a bead around the second hole. The second hole is arranged such that a substantial portion of the second hole is located outside an imaginary line linking between centers of the two bolt holes adjacent to each other. The bead includes an inner section near the first hole having spring constant weaker than a remainder of the bead. Therefore, when the metal plate is tightened between the engine parts, the bead can be compressed equally to securely seal around the second hole. The metal plate may be combined with other metal plates to constitute a steel laminate gasket.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 1991Date of Patent: December 14, 1993Assignee: Ishikawa Gasket Co., Ltd.Inventor: Susumu Inamura

Patent number: 5209504Abstract: A metal laminate gasket of the invention is installed in an internal combustion engine having at least one hole therein. The gasket comprises a first metal plate, and a second metal plate situated under the first metal plate. The first plate includes a first sealing device around a first hole to be sealed, and an inclined portion between the first sealing device and a base portion of the first plate. The upper surface of the base section is located in a level lower than the upper surface of the first sealing device. The second plate has a second hole larger than the first sealing device, and a second sealing device around the second hole. When the first and second plates are assembled, the second plate does not pile over the first sealing device. When the gasket is tightened, the second sealing device is at first compressed by tightening force and deforming force of the inclined portion to thereby equally tighten the second sealing device.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 1992Date of Patent: May 11, 1993Assignee: Ishikawa Gasket Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tsunekazu Udagawa, Susumu Inamura, Yoshio Yamada

Patent number: 5154529Abstract: A positioning pin of the invention is attached to an engine part for installing a gasket thereon. The positioning pin includes a body having a projection extending outwardly from the engine part. The projection includes at least one large diameter portion, and a small diameter portion about the body. When the gasket is accidentally moved on the engine part to slip out of the positioning pin, the gasket engages the small diameter portion or is blocked by the large diameter portion to prevent accidental disengagement of the gasket from the engine part.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 1991Date of Patent: October 13, 1992Assignee: Ishikawa Gasket Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tsunekazu Udagawa, Susumu Inamura

Patent number: 5149110Abstract: The metal gasket of the invention is installed in an internal combustion engine. The engine includes a plurality of cylinder bores and bolt holes, and at least first and second fluid holes. The first fluid hole is located in an area surrounded by imaginary lines linking between the centers of the bolt holes along the outer periphery of the gasket, and the second fluid hole is located outside the area surrounded by the imaginary lines. The gasket is basically formed of a first metal plate and includes a plurality of holes corresponding to the cylinder bores, bolt holes and first and second fluid holes. The first metal plate includes a first bead around the first fluid hole, and a second bead around the second fluid hole. The height of the second bead may be less than the height of the first bead. The second bead may have a spring constant less than that of the first bead. Therefore, when the gasket is tightened, the first bead is sufficiently compressed to seal around the same.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 1991Date of Patent: September 22, 1992Assignee: Ishikawa Gasket Co., Ltd.Inventor: Susumu Inamura
