  • Patent number: 9901280
Abstract: A measuring method and apparatus in which a measurable object (23) is irradiated with acoustic waves to measure a change in property value of charged particles in the object from electromagnetic waves induced thereby. A part (2) of the measurable object irradiated with an acoustic focused beam (1) is in a charge distribution state in which positive charged particles (3) are greater in number in the part (2) where electromagnetic waves induced by positive charged particles (3) are not canceled by those induced by negative charged particles (4) and where net electromagnetic waves (6) are induced. Since a change in concentration of positive charged particles (3) and/or negative charged particles (4) changes the intensity of electromagnetic waves (6), it is possible to know such a change in concentration of the charged particles from a change in intensity of electromagnetic waves (6).

  • Patent number: 8304731
Abstract: An infrared light detector with an infrared light sensitivity thereof further improved. According to the infrared light detector, an isolated region of a first electronic layer is switched between a “disconnected status” and a “connected status”. Under the connected status, saturation of an electrostatic charge quantity of the isolated region in the disconnected status is eliminated, and consequently, saturation of a variation amount of an electrical conductivity of a second electronic layer is eliminated. Therefore, the infrared light sensitivity is further improved by time integration of the variation amount of the electrical conductivity of the second electronic layer.

  • Patent number: 8140205
Abstract: A hybrid-vehicle driving system includes an engine, a transmission, a first motor/generator provided between the engine and the transmission, and a battery that can charge and discharge the first motor/generator. When an estimated output voltage of the first motor/generator becomes higher than or equal to a predetermined voltage during a gear shift operation of the transmission, the battery is electrically disconnected from the driving system, and the voltage of a power line on the side of the first motor/generator is then decreased so as to charge the battery.
