  • Patent number: 4802169
Abstract: A method and apparatus for storing and reading digital information, in which the recorded information is protected by a double symbol correcting code involving interleaving between the codes and also employing an additional, optional error correcting code. The information is organized in sectors, which are arranged such that following the synchronization and header information sub-header information is provided to indicate different sub-modes of operation of the playback apparatus. During playback, when a first sub-mode indication value is detected, this means the sector contains further error protection information, that is, the optional error correcting code, for which purpose a special decoder is activated. When the sub-mode detector detects a second sub-mode indication value, this means that further user information is present at the location where the optional error protection information would have been, and the special decoder is not activated.

  • Patent number: 4790182
Abstract: A platinum wire (2) is wound in the form of coil. An outer surface of the coiled wire (2) is overcoated with a glass member (4). The coiled wire (2) is welded to supporting member (3). An exothermic resistor (1; 1A, 1B) comprised the coiled wire (12), the glass member (4) and the supporting member (3), and has no bobbin therein. Such an exothermic resistor (1; 1A, 1B) free from a bobbin is used as a hot wire element (1A) and a cold wire element (1B) in a hot wire air flow meter. The quantity of heat generated on the coiled wire (2) hardly transmit through the supporting member (3) and is carried away almost through air. The transient response characteristics under sudden change of an amount of air flow can be improved.

  • Patent number: 4707818
Abstract: Digital data consisting of different kinds of digital audio signals having sampling frequencies, numbers of quantization bits and the like that are different from those of the two-channel digital audio signals, display data, program data, and the like are recorded in the same signal format as that of the two-channel digital audio signals. A code signal representing either of the two-channel digital audio signals and the digital data is recorded and control data indicative of the linear velocity of the digital disc upon reproduction are inserted in every frame of the recording signal. One block of the digital data is formed by a predetermined amount of data and the same control data used for controlling the processing of the digital data is recorded at least twice in one block. The digital disc is rotated at a constant linear velocity on the basis of the control data upon reproduction.
