  • Patent number: 6636702
Abstract: There is disclosed a main unit as an identifying apparatus for outputting an identification code and subjecting the identification code to encode by an encoding section to obtain a specific code. A process unit as an apparatus to be identifying subjects the identification code outputted from the main unit to the encoding by an encoding section by the same logic as that of the encoding section to obtain a response code, and returns the response code to an input port of the main unit. In the main unit, a collating section collates the specific code obtained by the encoding section and the signal inputted to the input port, and CPU judges the attached process unit to be original when a collation result indicates coincidence.

  • Patent number: 6058164
Abstract: The present invention relates to a mode-switchable telephone and mode setting and switching methods for the telephone. The mode-switchable telephone has a comparing unit which compares a value of a ringer adjusting volume with a volume value for setting a second mode, and a control unit which switches a first mode to the second mode when it is determined based on the result of the comparison by the comparing unit that the value of the ringer adjusting volume is set to be equal to or less than the volume value for setting the second mode. This structure facilitates the operation of the telephone having an automatic answering/recording function and a simple pager function.

  • Patent number: 5785782
Abstract: A slip-preventing tire improves braking and handling properties on a frozen, icy, or snow-packed road. A tire for use especially in winter has a number of slip-preventing structures which are embedded in the tire tread. A number of cylindrical grooves in the tire tread extend inwardly to a predetermined depth. A slip-preventing structure, which includes a number of brush-like wire members, is fixed in each of the grooves. The wire members contact the road surface thus improving the grip of the tire. Additionally, when the tire is operated on a wet roadway, the grooves act to draw in water while the wire members hold the water in the groove. This allows the tread surface to more firmly contact the roadway. The tire therefore provides improved traction in all seasons.

  • Patent number: 5373471
Abstract: In case an address is to access a defective memory cell, a defective memory cell in a memory cell area contained in one of paired memory mats is selected in parallel with a redundant memory cell in a redundant memory cell area contained in the other memory mat. At this time of selecting the redundant main word line for selecting the redundant memory cell, there is not required the logical operation for deciding whether or not the redundant use of the access address fed from the outside is proper. For example, the redundant main word line is set to the select level on the basis of a chip select signal. As a result, the drive start timing of the redundant main word line is not delayed in the least from the drive start timing of the main word line. Thus, it is possible to prevent the event that the select drive timing of the redundant sub word line is delayed on account of the delay in the drive timing of the redundant main word line.
