Patent number: 7543794Abstract: A torque-transmitting device is advantageously applied to a secondary air control valve mounted on an automotive vehicle. The device includes a gear train for reducing a rotational speed of a motor and a mechanism for converting a rotational motion to a linear motion of a valve shaft. The gear train includes a final gear coupled to the valve shaft, and the final gear includes a flange positioned at an axial end of an axis of the final gear. A coil spring for biasing the final gear toward a predetermined position is disposed next to the flange and around the axis of the final gear. Slits or holes are formed through the flange, so that holding jigs for holding the coil spring are inserted, in an assembling process, into a cylindrical space between an inner circumference of the coil spring and the axis of the final gear.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 2006Date of Patent: June 9, 2009Assignee: Denso CorporationInventors: Takahiro Kouzu, Satoshi Ishigaki, Tadashi Komiyama

Publication number: 20080283016Abstract: A cross-sectional shape of a first intake passage is formed in a circular shape and a cross-sectional shape of a second intake passage is formed in a rectangular shape. Thus, an opening area of a second intake throttle portion can be made larger than an opening area of a first intake throttle portion even when the opening area of the first intake throttle portion is narrow and an intake air quantity supplied into a combustion chamber of an engine is small as in the case of engine start-up or engine idling operation. Accordingly, an intended strong tumble flow in accordance with a demand for improving a combustion efficiency in the combustion chamber can be generated in the combustion chamber while achieving the intake air quantity necessary during the engine start-up or the engine idling operation.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 2, 2008Publication date: November 20, 2008Applicant: DENSO CORPORATIONInventors: Tadashi Komiyama, Naoki Osumi

Patent number: 7178330Abstract: A secondary air pressure detecting apparatus includes a solenoid valve and a pressure sensor. The solenoid valve defines a secondary air passage that introduces secondary air from the air pump into the exhaust system of an engine. The solenoid valve opens and closes the secondary air passage. The pressure sensor is integrally mounted to the solenoid valve to detect pressure of secondary air in the solenoid valve. The solenoid valve includes a coil assembly and magnetic members. The coil assembly includes a solenoid coil that generates magnetic force when the solenoid coil is energized. The magnetic members construct a magnetic circuit with the solenoid coil. The magnetic circuit is arranged outside of the secondary air passage. The pressure sensor is arranged on an opposite side of the secondary air passage with respect to the magnetic circuit.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 2005Date of Patent: February 20, 2007Assignee: Denso CorporationInventors: Takahiro Kouzu, Tadashi Komiyama

Publication number: 20070017217Abstract: An air control device is advantageously used as a device for supplying secondary air to a catalyzer contained in an exhaust pipe of an internal combustion engine. The air control device includes an electric motor, a speed reduction mechanism, a valve having a valve shaft and a biasing spring. These components are all contained in a housing that has a valve port formed therein. The valve is driven to open the valve port by the electric motor against a biasing force of the biasing spring. A rotational movement of a final gear in the speed reduction mechanism is converted into a linear movement of the valve shaft to thereby open the valve port. Since the biasing spring such as a torsion spring is wound around a flange connected to an axis of the final gear, a length of the valve shaft is made short, and the device as a whole is made compact.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 11, 2006Publication date: January 25, 2007Applicant: Denso CorporationInventors: Takahiro Kouzu, Tadashi Komiyama

Patent number: 6864771Abstract: The electromagnetic valve has an electromagnetic actuator for operating a valve. The electromagnetic actuator has a movable core that reciprocally moves in an axial direction. A stator core has an attracting portion. The attracting portion has a conical portion that is defined by a uniform diameter inner surface and an outwardly inclined outer surface. The outer surface has a smaller diameter at a position closer to an initial position of the plunger. Therefore outer diameter of the conical portion is increased in an attracting direction of the plunger. Moreover, increasing rate of the outer diameter is decreased in the attracting direction. Therefore the outer surface has a greater inclination angle at a position closer to an initial position of the plunger.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 2002Date of Patent: March 8, 2005Assignee: Denso CorporationInventors: Tadashi Komiyama, Katsuhiro Kuroki, Koji Sakurai, Michio Koshimizu, Kazuto Maeda
