    Abstract: The present invention is to provide a polytrimethylene terephthalate fiber having a trilobal type modified cross-section, composed of 95 mol % or more of trimethylene terephthalate repeating units and 5 mol % or less of other ester repeating units to have an intrinsic viscosity in a range from 0.7 to 1.3 (dl/g), wherein the outer periphery of the trilobal type cross-section consists of outwardly convex sections or of outwardly convex section and straight sections. According to the inventive method, it is possible to produce the above-mentioned fiber of the modified cross-section in an industrially stable manner while minimizing the adhesion of polymer scum to the spinning orifice or the contamination thereof to suppress the generation of fluff or yarn breakage.

The multifilamentary yarn is produced under the conditions in that a distance between the adjacent spinning orifices is 5 mm or more, a spinning temperature is in a range from 255 to 275° C., a surface temperature of a spinneret is 255° C. or higher, and a product of a discharge linear speed V of molten polymer and the intrinsic viscosity [&eegr;] is in a range from 5 to 12 (m/min)(dl/g).

The drawn yarn pirn of the invention exhibits satisfactory reelability even with high-speed false twisting, as well as minimal yarn breakage and fluff generation, thereby giving a textured yarn with satisfactory quality.

    Abstract: A bobbin-type winder for winding a synthetic yarn at a constant speed is disclosed. The winder includes a bobbin shaft having a bobbin mounted thereon and a bobbin shaft driving apparatus, operably connected to a first inverter, for rotating the bobbin shaft. The winder further includes a traverse device for traversing the yarn supplied to the bobbin, and a contacting roll arranged such that it is movable into contact with the circumferential face of a yarn package wound on the bobbin. The contacting roll is driven via a second inverter and a rotational speed detector is provided for detecting the rotational speed of the contacting roll. A controller is electrically connected with the bobbin shaft driving apparatus and the rotational speed detector for controlling the rotational speed of the bobbin shaft in accordance with the detector rotational speed of the contacting roll.
