  • Patent number: 5537912
Abstract: A rodless cylinder has adjusting mechanisms, each comprising a gear shaft rotatably mounted in a hole defined in an outer wall of a slide table and having a first gear on an end thereof, an adjustment shaft having a second gear on an end thereof which is held in mesh with the first gear at a predetermined angle, and a rod coupled to an opposite end of the adjustment shaft out of alignment with a central axis of adjustment shaft, with a guide roller being rotatably supported on the rod. When the gear shaft is turned by a screwdriver bit inserted in the hole, the adjustment shaft is turned to displace the guide rod for optimum rolling contact with a rail on a cylinder tube. The rolling contact between the guide rod and the rail can be adjusted from the outer side of the slide table.

  • Patent number: 5519556
Abstract: A magnetic head capable of preventing erosion of the magnetic metal film despite the absence of a protective film and preventing a decrease in the playback output due to decrease of the track width while preventing cracking from being initiated and developed in the ferrite substrate is disclosed. The magnetic head is prepared by forming magnetic core half blocks and by bonding the core half blocks via gap bonding, each of the magnetic core half blocks being previously formed by stacking a ferrite substrate on another ferrite substrate having magnetic metal films via glass films and forming track width adjustment grooves. The glass transition temperature Tg of the glass employed for stacking the ferrite substrates is set so as to be higher than the glass yield point Tc of the fusion glass.

  • Patent number: 5508520
Abstract: In a method and an apparatus for discriminating real securities from copies thereof produced by an electrophotographic copier using a toner, a heating member heated to a temperature above 50.degree. C. and below 250.degree. C. is brought into contact with a printing to see if an image on the printing changes or if any deposit is present on the heating member. Whether or not the image of the printing is formed by a toner whose major component is a thermoplastic resin, is determined on the basis of the result of the above decision.

  • Patent number: 5474617
Abstract: A method for regenerating an image holding-supporting member has the steps of impregnating the image holding-supporting member with a liquid including at least water molecules; the image holding-supporting member having a chartaceous material constructed by cellulose as a principal component and having a hydrophobic image formed on this chartaceous material; and separating the hydrophobic image from the chartaceous material by an image separator in an impregnating state of the liquid so that an image can be recopied and reprinted on the chartaceous material. In accordance with this reproducing method, a copy is made or a sheet of printing paper is regenerated by cleanings of a PPC copying image and a PPC printing image normally utilized in markets at present in addition to cleaning of images copied and printed on sheets of special paper such as erasable paper so that the image holding-supporting member can be reused as a paper sheet for copying or printing.

  • Patent number: 5412236
Abstract: In a method of making a semiconductor device, an active layer and a heavily doped cap layer are formed in turn on a semiconductor substrate, a first electrode is formed on the cap layer, a mask of a two-layer structure is formed on the cap layer, with the mask having an insulating film pattern having a non-inverted tapered opening, and a resist pattern having an inverted tapered opening and continuous with the non-inverted tapered opening, these openings being separated by a predetermined distance from the first electrode, and then a recess is formed, by performing an isotropic etching of the heavily doped layer exposed in the openings, with the recess having a bottom surface and a side wall surface rising from an edge of the bottom surface toward the upper edge with a constant radium off curvature. An oblique vapor deposition is then performed to form a second electrode to cover the bottom surface and the part of the side wall surface.

  • Patent number: 5387855
Abstract: In order to carry out commercial synchronous exchange for disconnecting an induction motor from its driving power supply and connecting it to a variable frequency power supply, or commercial synchronous switching for disconnecting the induction motor from the variable frequency power supply and connecting it to a commercial power supply, without any accompanying adverse shock, an induction-motor vector control technique is utilized. A phase-locked loop (PLL) is formed to detect the difference in phase between the output voltage from the variable frequency power supply or the magnetic flux phase of the induction motor on the one hand, and the phase of the power supply voltage on the other, so that the difference in phase thus detected can be maintained at a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 5334542
Abstract: A lower mask layer and a first resist layer are formed on a substrate. The first resister is exposed with the use of an exposure mask having a phase shifter. A part of the first resist layer corresponding to the edge of the phase shifter becomes an unexposed part so that an aperture in slit is formed in the first resist layer by developing. The first mask layer is etched through said first resist layer to form an aperture for forming a gate electrode. A second resist layer as an upper mask layer is formed over the lower mask layer. The second resist layer is exposed with the use of the same exposure mask, and is then developed. By setting the exposure strength to a value lower than an exposure strength for exposure to the first resist layer, a wider aperture is formed in the second resist layer. With the use of the lower mask layer having the narrower aperture and the upper mask layer having the wider upper mask layer, a T-shape electrode is formed.

  • Patent number: 5282106
Abstract: A magnetic disk cartridge retains a rotational magnetic disk in a case through liners, which contact the associated surfaces of the disk and each have multiple long protrusions formed almost uniformly and almost in parallel to one another on the whole surface on the disk side. As the magnetic disk rotates, the angle of the disk surface contacting the long protrusions can gradually change, thus ensuring removal of dust from the disk. In additon, this structure can reduce the frictional resistance between the liner's surface and magnetic disk, which contributes to faster rotation of the disk.
