  • Patent number: 5973220
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of disposal of metallic aluminum-containing solid waste comprising the steps of reacting radioactive solid waste containing metallic aluminum with an alkali solution to generate a hydrogen gas and then mixing the resulting reaction liquid with a solidifying material containing a latent hydraulic material as a main component to solidify the liquid. According to the method of the invention, solidification of aluminum-containing radioactive solid waste in a highly filled state (high concentration) is feasible and a solid having excellent mechanical strength and properties of preventing oozing of radioactive nuclide can be obtained.

  • Patent number: 5860178
Abstract: A substrate supporting device has a turntable mounted on a rotary shaft for supporting a substrate and spinning the substrate about a vertical axis. The turntable is replaceable by a load measuring device including a load meter mounted on a support bracket having a tube attachable to the rotary shaft. The load meter receives a cleaning brush to measure a pressing load applied therefrom. The load meter has a pressure sensor with an upper surface thereof at an equal level to the surface of the substrate to be placed on the substrate supporting device. Thus, a pressure to be applied to the substrate is measured in the same position as where the substrate is actually treated.

  • Patent number: 5829087
Abstract: A cleaning brush is fixed to a cleaner support that is mounted to a rotary element for vertical movement with respect thereto. The rotary element is rotatably supported by a forward portion of a support arm that is pivotable about a vertical axis at the rear of the support arm. A closed space defined by a bellows is connected to air piping having a pressure gauge and a regulator. The regulator is operable in response to variations of pressure resulting from engagement of the cleaning brush with a substrate, to control pressure within said bellows whereby the latter expands and contracts to raise or lower the cleaner support relative to the substrate as required to maintain the pressure in a predetermined range. The aforesaid construction responds fast enough to allow the cleaning brush to follow warping of the substrate with facility, and by so doing clean an entire substrate surface uniformly.

  • Patent number: 5799716
Abstract: An electric-powered shutter apparatus to be mounted to a building. A winding drum (4) of an electric-powered shutter device (1) is provided with a driving mechanism including an electric motor (7) and a single-directional rotary clutch device (8). A balance tension device (9) is provided at the other end of the apparatus. The clutch device (8) is configured to slip when the load of the rotation in the direction of the curtain being fed exceeds a certain load. Further, the load at which the clutch device (8) slips is set so as to be greater than the force for forcibly rotating the electric motor when disconnected from electric power. The balancing tension device (9) is balanced against the sum of the weight of the shutter curtain (2) and the load for forcibly rotating the electric motor (7). Thus, the need for a braking device for the electric-powered shutter apparatus to be mounted to a building is eliminated.

  • Patent number: 5785068
Abstract: A substrate spin cleaning apparatus includes a nozzle attached through a first and second support brackets to support shaft that is rotatable about a vertical axis. The nozzle delivers a cleaning liquid to the surface of a spinning substrate in a pin-point mode and under high pressure, while moving a liquid application point on the substrate surface between the substrate spin center and peripheral edge of the substrate. The first support bracket defines an arcuate slot extending within a plane including the spin center and a tip of the nozzle and along an imaginary circle about the spin center. The nozzle is attached to the second support bracket connected to the first support bracket which in turn is through the arcuate slot, to deliver the cleaning liquid to the spin center. The application point is movable through the spin center regardless of the inclination angle of the nozzle relative to the substrate surface.

  • Patent number: 5234499
Abstract: A spin coating apparatus for use in applying a coating solution in film form to an upper surface of a substrate. This apparatus includes a rotary table for spinning the substrate as supported thereon in horizontal posture, the rotary table having a size larger than an outline contour of the substrate, and an upper rotary plate disposed parallel to and slightly spaced from the upper surface of the substrate supported on the rotary table. The rotary table and upper rotary plate define a flat treating space therebetween, which treating space has peripheral openings for allowing superfluous part of the coating solution to scatter outwardly therefrom. A nozzle plate is disposed between the rotary table and the substrate supported thereon. The nozzle plate receives cleaning liquid supplied through a rotary shaft of the rotary table, and directs the liquid to the lower surface of the substrate.

  • Patent number: 5189627
Abstract: A complete-circle operation of a machine tool controlled by an NC-device. Even if the NC-device gives operation commands for respective shafts of the machine tool on the basis of a control locus which is to be a complete circle, the actual operation locus of the machine tool is not a complete circle because the machine tool generates errors due to various causes such as thermal deformation, machine accuracy, etc. If the errors are corrected individually to improve the accuracy, the complexity of the processing cannot be avoided. It is assumed that the operation locus of the machine tool which is controlled for a complete circle becomes an ellipse due to errors involved. A simple process corrects the ellipse such that it is converted to a complete circle.

  • Patent number: 4832484
Abstract: An apparatus for determining the concentration of a light-absorbing material contained in blood flowing through a tissue which minimizes the amount of error caused by noise and which ensures highly precise results at all times. The apparatus operates according the principle that light beams of different wavelengths are absorbed by different amounts when passing through the tissue at different portions of the blood pulsation cycle. A plurality of points are detected that fall in the vicinity of the peak and trough of a cycle of a light detection signal. For each wavelength of light, the values of the detection signals produced at each of these points in time is stored. The concentration of the light-absorbing material is computed in response to the stored detection signals.
