  • Patent number: 6899352
Abstract: An airbag device comprises a folded and housed airbag including: a vehicle front-facing wall portion having a gas inlet through which inflating gas can enter; and a passenger-facing wall portion directly opposite the gas inlet port. In the airbag, there is arranged a flow regulating cloth. This flow regulating cloth regulates the inflow of the inflating gas so that the unnecessary protrusion of the passenger-facing wall portion toward the passenger is prevented. Moreover, the flow regulating cloth breaks at a portion made to be easily torn, before the completion of inflation of the airbag. In other words, the airbag is released from the regulation of the inflow of the inflating gas before the completion of inflation.

  • Publication number: 20050067823
Abstract: In the airbag device of the present invention, a cylinder-shaped inflator includes a discharge side end portion having a plurality of gas discharge ports. The discharge side end is connected with the airbag utilizing a clamp by being inserted into a tubular gas inlet port of the airbag. Each of gas discharge ports includes a circumferential opening and an end face opening. The end face opening emits inflation gas in an axial direction of the inflator when the inflator is connected with the gas inlet port. Between each of the circumferential openings is a supporting plane for supporting an inner surface of the gas inlet port. The discharge side end includes a guide portion for redirecting inflation gas flowing from inside to directions perpendicular to the axis of the inflator when the gas inlet port is not connected with the inflator, such that inflation gas is discharged from the circumferential openings of the gas discharge ports.

  • Patent number: 6846007
Abstract: In an airbag cover having an ornament, mounting legs of the ornament are inserted individually into mounting holes formed in a door portion of the airbag cover and are bent at first bent portions near the opening of the mounting holes on the rear side of the door. The leading end portions of the mounting legs are bent at second bent portions arranged near the leading ends of the mounting legs, on the rear side of the door. The portions of the mounting legs near their leading ends which are bent at the second bent portions are covered by melting and solidifying cover portions having compatibility with the material forming the airbag cover. The vicinities of the leading ends of the mounting leg portions are covered with the cover portions as to be restrained from being extracted in the general direction of the axis of the portion of the mounting leg between the first bent portion and the second bent portion.

  • Publication number: 20030195685
Abstract: A first airbag apparatus of the present invention has an airbag module, which includes an airbag and an inflator, and a displacement mechanism, which displaces the airbag module. The displacement mechanism displaces the airbag module from an original position to a predetermined position when a collision of the vehicle is predicted and displaces the airbag module from the predetermined position to the original position when the predicted collision is avoided. A second airbag apparatus of the present invention has the airbag module and the displacement mechanism, which displaces a support member. The support member displaces the airbag from the original position to the predetermined position before the airbag is deployed.
