Abstract: A self-cancelling mechanism is mounted on a steering column of a vehicle, is used for a turn-signal device signalling a change of a running direction of the vehicle and switches off turn-signal lamps by a returning rotation of a steering wheel. A ratchet is pivotally supported to a bracket pivoted to the steering column and is operated by a driver, and a cancelling cam body is arranged between the ratchet and the steering shaft. The ratchet is rotatable from its neutral position against the bracket up to a pair of rotation positions and is forced to the neutral position by an elastic member so that, even if the ratchet is suddenly returned back to the neutral position by the rotation of the steeling shaft in an anticancelling direction, striking noise does not occur.

Abstract: Operation members for a turn-signal switch signalling a change of an advance course of an automobile and operation members for a hazard switch signalling an emergency situation of the automobile are arranged close to one another on the same plane, the former is of a knob type swingingly operated and the latter is of a push button type repeatedly operated. Both the switches possess in common an insulator.Accordingly, both the switches are able to be arranged reasonably on a steering column and improved in operations ability. In addition, connection among contacts and fixed to the insulator is able to be simplified.

Abstract: An improved combination switching arrangement for use in a motor vehicle or the like includes a plurality of actuators to be displaced by operation of a control lever, and a switch unit having a switch base on which switch elements to be selectively opened or closed by the movements of the actuators are fixed. The switch elements are disposed on the upper surface and the under surface of the switch base, while at least one set of the actuators are movably provided at the upper and under surfaces of the switch base so as to be connected to each other through an opening formed in the switch base for simple construction and compact size of the switching arrangement.

Abstract: A switch assembly for use in a vehicle including a body carrying a turn indicator switch and a dimmer and passing switch, a rotatable member rotatably mounted on the body for actuating the turn indicator switch, and a bifurcated lever having first and second arms. The first arm is pivotally connected to the rotatable member for pivotal movement of the lever in a direction perpendicular to the direction of rotation of the rotatable member and the second arm is provided in association with the dimmer and passing switch so that rotation of the lever together with the rotatable member controls the turn indicator switch and the pivotal movement of the lever controls the dimmer and passing switch. A plurality of vertical and horizontal notches are formed in a face between the first and second arms for the engagement with a pin mounted in the body to hold the lever in the pivoted and rotated positions.
