    Abstract: A method of providing multicast services in a virtual private local area network (LAN) is provided. The method of providing multicast services, which is used by a provider edge in a virtual private LAN in which the provider edge, a customer edge, and a management system are connected to each other, includes: establishing a VPLS table used to transmit a received Ethernet frame to a destination; after receiving an Ethernet frame from the customer edge, searching the VPLS table in order to determine whether or not group information related to the destination of the Ethernet frame exists in the VPLS table; if the group information does not exist, requesting the group information from the management system, receiving the information, and then, updating the VPLS table by adding the received group information; and determining an output interface by referring to the group information, and transmitting the Ethernet frame.

    Abstract: Provided are a method for measuring characteristics of a path between nodes by using active testing packets based on priority, i.e., an inter-node path characteristic measuring method, which can measure and provide characteristics of a generated node, when an inter-node data transmission path is generated based on Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) to provide a path with satisfactory transmission delay, jitter and packet loss that are required by a user, and to provide a computer-readable recording medium for recording a program that implement the method. The method includes the steps of: a) synchronizing system time of the nodes with a global standard time; b) forming each testing packet; c) registering frame sequence and the global standard time during transmission; and d) calculating transmission delay time, jitter and packet loss by using time stamp and packet sequence information of a frame received by the destination node and transmitting the result to the management system.

    Abstract: A method for providing a QoS-guaranteeing multi-path and a method for providing disjoint paths using the same are provided. The method configures the shortest path tree by adapting the start node “s” and the destination node “d”. When a new node is selected as a tree node in a tree configuration process according to the “s” or the “d”, the closest node to either the “s” or the “d” is selected. If a specified node “v” is contained in both a tree oriented from the “s” and another tree oriented from the “d”, one path of “s”-“v”-“d” is created. If all nodes are contained in either the tree of “s” or the other tree of “d”, then a program of path creation process is terminated. Further, the method further includes a step for determining two disjoint paths from the “s” to the “d” among the found multiple paths above.

    Abstract: A router for supporting differentiated qualities of service (QoS), and a fast Internet protocol (IP) packet classification method performed in the router, are provided. The router hierarchically divides a memory having flow tables into a fast internal cache memory and an external typical memory. The internal cache memory stores recently searched table entries. The router preferentially searches the flow tables of the internal cache memory. Only when the internal cache memory searching fails, the flow tables of the external memory are searched. Consequently, the frequency of interactions between a packet classifier and the external memory decreases to improve the speed of packet classification.
