    Abstract: A display panel includes first and second substrates. The first substrate includes a light blocking layer having an opening through the light blocking layer. The opening is arranged in a pixel area. The second substrate includes first and second transistors, first and second driving electrodes, and a shutter. The first transistor is turned on in response to a low level control voltage. The second transistor is electrically connected to the first transistor and is turned on in response to receiving a low level voltage from the first transistor. The first driving electrode is electrically connected to the first transistor, and the second driving electrode is electrically connected to the second transistor. The shutter exposes or covers the opening by moving to the first driving electrode or the second driving electrode according to the relative levels of voltages applied to the first and second driving electrodes.

An end portion of the microporous layer is positioned further inside of the membrane electrode assembly than an end portion of the backing layer. The circumferential edge protective layer is inserted between the backing layer and the electrolyte membrane.
