  • Publication number: 20020085532
Abstract: A method and a system for inter-working an ANSI type radio access network (RAN) in an Internet Protocol (IP) based core network (CN) is disclosed. The method and a system provide for matching primary network components, such as the mobile switching center (MSC) and the base station controller (BSC), so as to inter-work an ANSI Type RAN in the IP based CN, while causing minimum modifications in the currently operated ANSI type RAN and establishing the IP based CN for accommodating the IP based ANSI type RAN. A unified communication network is thus provided by matching the RAN and the CN based upon the IP using a method and a system for signal connection and traffic transfer connection required for the network matching. As a result, a CN may be established, having the transfer path between a RAN and the CN based upon common technology such as IP.

  • Publication number: 20020080793
Abstract: An apparatus and method for recovering abnormal control cells in an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) exchange subscriber unit. A signal cell or control cell is transmitted and a plurality of reception first-in first-out memories (FIFOs) are sequentially checked to determine whether a new cell has arrived. If there is no start of cell (SOC) signal in an initial byte of a current cell under the condition that a cell synchronization loss signal is present in the current cell, or if the SOC signal is detected during transfer of the current cell, the current cell is determined to be abnormal. If the cell synchronization loss signal is abnormal, the current cell is discarded and an associated FIFO is fully emptied to recover cell synchronization.

  • Patent number: 6390661
Abstract: A rapid discharge multiple material delivery molding system includes a feed assembly having an upper portion, a movable middle portion and a lower portion. A drive is mounted between the middle portion and the lower portion to drive the middle portion and simultaneously control the intake and discharge of a fluid material from each of a plurality of fluid delivery containers. Each fluid delivery container is specifically sized to contain a predetermined volume of fluid material. By attaching a plurality of variously sized fluid delivery containers to the lower portion, an exact volume of each fluid material is dispensed simultaneously upon a downward stroke of the middle portion.

  • Publication number: 20020031128
Abstract: A control cell management method and apparatus of switching system are disclosed. The invention includes storing an address of a pertinent control cell reception buffer buffering a first-arrived new control cell, when the new control cell is received during a transmission of output control cells. • Publication number: 20020003655
Abstract: Disclosed relates to an L-band optical fiber amplifier which amplifies an L-band optical signal of 1570 nm to 1610 nm. In general, when a pumping light of 980 nm for example, output from a pumping light generating laser diode, is supplied to an erbium doped fiber EDF, an amplified spontaneous emission ASE having a bandwidth of 1530 nm to 1560 nm, namely, C-band is generated. The L-band optical fiber amplifier of the invention is configured in a manner that ASE transmitted in the backward direction, or a predetermined wavelength light selected from the bandwidth of 1530 nm to 1560 nm is reflected by a reflecting means and re-injected to EDF. A fiber bragg grating FBG or a reflecting mirror is applied as the reflecting means. The reflected light from the reflecting means is re-injected to EDF and acts as the pumping light, thus increasing the amplification gain for the L-band input light remarkably.

  • Patent number: 6306672
Abstract: A Group III-V complex vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) diode manufactured using GaN-system III-V nitride, and a method of manufacturing the same, are provided. The Group III-V complex surface emitting laser diode can obtain a sufficient reflectance even with a small number of pairs of a distributed bragg reflector (DBR), by forming DBRs including air layers. Thus, the crystal growth problem is solved. Also, current confinement and waveguiding are realized by AIN lateral oxidation or etching.

  • Patent number: 6275346
Abstract: A read/write channel parameter optimization technique in a hard disk drive having a read/write channel circuit reduces an error rate during a data read/write operation through optimization of read and write channel parameters, write channel parameters are optimized by searching for the optimized level of each write channel parameter in accordance with characteristics of all head/zone combinations from data write and read operations of the same number while varying levels of the write channel parameter. In read channel parameter optimization, an optimized read channel parameter combination is searched for by suppressing noise through data write and read operations of the same number on varied read channel parameter combinations.

  • Patent number: 6219327
Abstract: An optical disk player, used for reproducing data recorded on a laser or compact disk, is disclosed. In the disk player, a dust cover is rotatably hinged to the top surface of a pick-up unit. The above dust cover is brought into movable contact with and is operated in conjunction with the guide surface of a cam member. The dust cover thus selectively covers or opens the objective lens of the pick-up unit. Due to the dust cover, it is possible to almost completely prevent foreign substances, such as dust, from sticking on the lens, thereby effectively protecting the lens. The dust cover precisely opens or covers the lens in conjunction with a slidable movement of a guide rod of the dust cover relative to a sectioned guide surface of the cam member. The guide surface of the cam member is formed within a range corresponding to a distance between the inside edge of the chucking place of the disk to the junction between the chucking place and the data place of the disk.

  • Patent number: 5963665
Abstract: An image enhancing method using a mean-separate histogram equalization method is disclosed. An input image signal is divided into two sub-images in a picture unit according to a mean level of the input image signal. Then, cumulative density functions for each of the sub-images are calculated. Afterwards, the input sample is mapped into two gray levels, each of which belongs to a first range and a second range, by using first and second transform functions defined by use of the cumulative density functions, respectively. Finally, one of two mapped levels is selected depending on the magnitude of the input sample. As a result, the brightness of the given image can be preserved while the contrast is enhanced.
