  • Patent number: 5873352
Abstract: A failure diagnosing apparatus makes an judgment as to whether or not a failure occurs in an evaporated fuel processing apparatus in which an evaporated fuel within a fuel reservoir is adsorbed by an activated charcoal within a canister and the evaporated fuel adsorbed by the activated charcoal is purged to an intake system of an internal combustion engine under a certain operational condition. An atmospheric air is introduced into the fuel reservoir when the fuel is supplied to the fuel reservoir. Accordingly, there is a fear that a misdiagnosis is performed if the failure diagnosis is performed during fuel supply. Accordingly, when the internal combustion engine is in operation and in fuel supply condition, the failure judgement process by the failure diagnosing apparatus is forbidden.

  • Patent number: 5845625
Abstract: Three-way VSV switches a passage in communication with pressure sensor either to the atmosphere or to three-way VSV. The three-way VSV is provided in bypass passage connecting fuel tank with canister to switch the path to the fuel tank side or to the canister side with respect to tank internal-pressure control valve. As properly switching the three-way VSVs, the pressure sensor can detect both the pressure in the evaporation purge system and the atmospheric pressure. Upon diagnosis of defect a difference is calculated between the in-system pressure and the atmospheric pressure detected, which cancels out the dispersion or the like upon production of the pressure sensor, thus enabling to detect an accurate pressure change.

  • Patent number: 5416662
Abstract: A single three-terminal chip-type surge absorber combines two or three semiconductor surge-absorbing elements with three electrode plates and resin-molding the combination. When more lines must be connected to an electronic device subject to a voltage surge, instead of mounting a plurality of surge-absorbing elements, which requires a substantial space and many mounting steps, a single surge absorber with a plurality of surge absorbing elements absorbs the voltage surge.
