  • Patent number: 4701198
Abstract: A fuel tank comprising a fuel inlet pipe and a cap detachably attached to the fuel inlet of the fuel inlet pipe. A valve port interconnecting the interior of the fuel tank to a canister is formed in the fuel inlet pipe. A control valve controlling the opening operation of the valve port is arranged in the fuel inlet pipe. The control valve is normally closed. When the cap is slightly unscrewed, the control valve automatically opens, and the fuel vapor in the fuel tank is fed into the canister via the valve port.

  • Patent number: 4659346
Abstract: Disclosed is a device comprising a lid which is pivotally connected to the vehicle body and normally closes a recess formed on the vehicle body. A cap of the fuel inlet of a fuel tank is arranged in the recess. The interior of the fuel tank is connected to a canister via a normally closed control valve controlled in response to the pivotal movement of the lid. When the lid is opened, the control valve opens to connect the interior of the fuel tank to the canister.

  • Patent number: 4657156
Abstract: A fuel tank comprising a fuel inlet pipe and a cap detachably attached to the fuel inlet of the fuel inlet pipe. The fuel tank has a small chamber expanding downward from the bottom wall of the fuel tank. The fuel outlet of the fuel inlet pipe is open to the small chamber. A baffle member made of a porous material is fixed to the inner bottom wall of the small chamber.

A valve port interconnecting the interior of the fuel tank to a canister is formed in the fuel inlet pipe. A control valve controlling the opening operation of the valve port is arranged in the fuel inlet pipe. The control valve is normally closed. When a fuel pump nozzle is inserted into the fuel inlet, the control valve automatically opens, and the fuel vapor in the fuel tank is fed into the canister via the valve port.

  • Patent number: 4572394
Abstract: A fuel tank comprising a fuel inlet pipe and a canister housing which surrounds the upper portion of the fuel inlet pipe. A valve body is arranged in the upper portion of the fuel inlet pipe. A fuel vapor passage continuously connected to the interior of the fuel tank is formed between the valve body and the upper portion of the fuel inlet pipe. The valve body has a valve portion cooperating with a cap. When the cap is screwed into the threaded bore formed in the canister housing, the valve body disconnects the fuel vapor passage from the canister housing. When the cap is unscrewed, the fuel vapor passage is connected to the canister housing.

  • Patent number: 4519957
Abstract: The main fuel nozzle is located a predetermined distance inside from the end of a bridge formed in the upstream portion of the barrel of the carburetor, and the piston head of the suction piston is designed to be overlapped by the bridge during the idle condition. A notch is also formed on the downstream side of the main nozzle to shift the fuel running along the metering needle during idling to the main nozzle by a diffusing air flow, and a fuel guide is provided extending from the notch to the barrel wall to guide the fuel, supplied from the main nozzle during idling, along the fuel guide surface to the barrel wall.

  • Patent number: 4508664
Abstract: A variable venturi-type carburetor comprising a suction piston and a needle. The root portion of the needle is fixed onto the central portion of the tip face of the suction piston. An annular groove is formed on the tip face of the suction piston around the root portion of the needle. A narrow groove is also formed on the tip face of the suction piston and extends downwardly from the annular groove to the downstream end of the tip face of the suction piston.

  • Patent number: 4450117
Abstract: A variable venturi-type carburetor comprising a suction piston, a fuel passage, and a needle fixed onto the suction piston and extending through the fuel passage. An air bleed passage is connected to the fuel passage. During engine starting, before the engine begins to rotate by its own power, the vacuum chamber of the suction piston is open to the atmosphere and the air bleed passage is shut off. When the engine begins to rotate by its own power, the vacuum chamber of the suction piston is closed from the atmosphere. After this, the air bleed passage is gradually opened. Such control of the closing of the vacuum chamber and the opening of the air bleed passage prevents engine stall by preventing the fuel mixture from becoming excessively lean when the engine first begins to rotate on its own power and then prevents engine misfires by subsequently reducing the air-fuel ratio to a lean mixture.

  • Patent number: 4444695
Abstract: A variable venturi carburetor according to this invention is so arranged that during low load operation with a small degree of opening of the throttle valve, the suction piston is moved forward corresponding to a reduced amount of suctioned air to make a width of the venturi portion narrow and maintain negative pressure in the venturi portion at a constant level, fuel suctioned from the float chamber is gauged in an amount thereof under the cooperation of the metering needle with the metering jet and then ejected from the main nozzle, the ejected fuel strikes upon the head of the suction piston due to inertia thereof and then flows down along the surface of the head, the fuel collecting at the lower surface is received in the fuel receiver and flows down through the path formed in the wall of the barrel into the intake manifold in an atomized state, bypassing the throttle valve.

  • Patent number: 4330489
Abstract: Variable venturi type carburetor characterized in that one end of the fuel suction-ejection hole opens in a venturi unit formed in the carburetor body; a throttle is provided midway in the fuel suction-ejection hole; one end of a fuel path, the other end of which opens in the float chamber, opens in the inside wall of the throttle, whereby steam bubbles generated in the fuel of the fuel path can be sucked into said throttle and thus coalescence and growth of steam bubbles in the fuel can be prevented from causing vapor lock.
