  • Patent number: 7629872
Abstract: A chip-type component 11 includes an insulating chip substrate 12 whose upper surface is provided with a resistor element 13 and a cover coat 14 covering the resister film. At the opposite ends of the substrate, terminal electrode films 15, 16 are formed for the resistor element in a manner such that they extend onto the lower surface 12a of the insulating substrate. The lower surface 12a of the substrate is provided with an insulating projection 18 between the terminal electrode films, where the projection includes a peak portion 18a positioned at or near the center of the insulating substrate in a longitudinal direction along which the terminal electrode films are spaced from each other. This prevents the insulating substrate from breaking when the chip-type component 11 is vacuum-sucked by a collet nozzle 19 to be supplied to a printed circuit board 17.

  • Publication number: 20090131048
Abstract: A mobile communication system is comprised of a mobile phone device, a GSM network, and a W-CDMA network. A controller mounted in the mobile phone device updates GSM actually-used frequency data or W-CDMA actually-used frequency data both stored in a memory, in accordance with a DL frequency of a GSM cell or a W-CDMA cell detected by means of a GSM cell-searcher or a W-CDMA cell-searcher. The controller determines non-used frequencies not used in each of frequency bands, based on the actually-used frequency data, and causes the GSM cell-searcher or the W-CDMA cell-searcher to carry out cell-searching only with frequencies which may be used, except non-used frequencies.

  • Patent number: 7380333
Abstract: A method of making a chip resistor is provided. The method includes the following steps. First, a resistive element is provided on a substrate. Then, a resin layer is formed on the substrate to enclose the resistive element. Then, the substrate and the resin layer are cut in this order. To prevent the breakage of the substrate during the cutting, the resin layer has better machinability than the substrate.

  • Patent number: 7227443
Abstract: A fixed resistor network has an insulating substrate, a plurality of film resistors arranged on a top surface of the insulating substrate, terminal electrodes formed for the film resistors on each lengthwise sidewall of the insulating substrate at a given pitch along the sidewall, and recesses provided between the terminal electrodes. The occurrence of solder bridges between the terminal electrodes during solder mounting and the occurrence of chipping in the terminal-electrode-forming areas between the recesses on the lengthwise sidewall are both reduced by making the width of the recesses along the lengthwise sidewall either 0.44 to 0.48 times or 0.525 to 0.625 times the pitch.
